  1. It's common practice for many software companies to make add-ons as separate installers. For example one DAW has around 20 GB of content. But maybe you already have Kontakt, SampleTank, and a ton of loops. I think it's considerate that you're not forced to download 20 GB of stuff when all you really want is the 180 MB DAW. In return for using an installer that checks whether your version is up to date and gives the option to download optional plug-ins, you get a highly capable DAW for free. I just don't see how anyone can have a problem with that.

  2. Then google this stuff and read. Newsflash: you are not unique in this world, others have had the same questions, although have expressed them in a polite and respectful manner... and they have been answered. So, go do your homework, instead of coming here complaining about and demanding stuff you ignore because you just don´t want to take the time to research about it. Want some help? start by helping yourself. Don´t like what´s being offered? then don´t install, nobody is forcing you.

  3. Hey Grem ! Very nice to hear something new from you, HA ! wish I could "write songs at work" then perhaps it would be my job . . . it's a slowly unfolding groove, and yes, the way you kept it simple really worked for me, not a lot of rhyming overly poetic lyrics, but very much from the heart. Thanks for posting, going back for another listen . . . EDIT . . . on my second listen I think I got it more, and found it to be a powerful message for me, personally . . . thank you Grem.

  5. This has been one of the most enjoyable and rewarding things that I’ve done musically (for myself) during this lockdown period. Larry (drummer) and I had a lot of fun recording this. The track forms part of my next solo album which I’m busy with at the moment. It was quite tricky doing all the filming and playing but I'm quite happy with the result. I also showed which VSTs were used in the making of the track. I was able to use the Kemper Profiler for all the guitars in the way that I think it was meant to be used, in that most of the profiles were created by me. The profiles used in this track were created from my live rig using all the various pedals etc. This device has been a revelation for me in terms of guitar tone and ease of use. Please note, if you normally listen to three or four minute songs this is definitely not for you. The track runs for around 12 minutes and is structured into three parts. Hope you enjoy,

  6. WA Production's SPHERE DELAY is free with purchase until 9/2. Get it HERE As the normal price for this is over a million dollars, this is an extraordinary deal indeed. They are also giving away their parallel processing plug COMBEAR (normally $100,000) for signing up for their mailing list. If you're looking for some inexpensive things to buy, one thing that stands out is the Dodge Pro Enveloper Shaper, which is only $4.90 on a flash sale now (normally $29) But there are a lot of loop packs, synth presets, and tutorial available at reasonable prices. Everybody on this forum knows the deal about the kind of gear that WA sells, because PluginBoutique always has their products on sale. I have to tell you I had never spent time on their actual site before. They have a LOT of stuff. One thing I didn't know is that they have a ton of free stuff available, including things like female vocal loops. Check it out HERE.

  7. The title says it all. And this emulation comes from some of the original engineers and programmers who worked for Roland in the 70's and 80's. Don't know if it's already mentioned here before. https://rc-808.com/ Oh... and by the way... Happy 808 Day everyone. ?

  8. Very well done. Sounds professional to me. I see that you used Izotope Nectar and Mix Assistant which I have but haven't used yet. Sounds like it worked very well here. Gonna try it out next project. I like the guitar and organ accompaniment and the emotion behind the words. The song is kind of laid back until ~4:45 when the intensity notched up. I was expecting that a bit earlier. Just my preference. I'm a lyrics guy and pay attention to words. Excuse me for asking, but what were the lyrics ~ 0:40? "<something> much for nothing" It's so satisfying to create something and love the way it turned out like you've done here.

  9. Well done Grem. Vocal recording/production is stellar. Sometimes it feels that when the vocal traisl off there is only one kick hit and it felt like it needed two. JMO.

  11. I had to go back and re-read that review to see if Imperial Delay had indeed been over-praised. To quote the article itself: "Maybe". But here's a genuine testimonial: this is the only product I've ever gone out and purchased after having been given an NFR for it.

  12. I'm not sure how else to explain what's included in the sub installers than saying they're plugins... not without just giving you a bunch of links to docs about all of these plugins which are readily available both in our documentation and many user driven tutorials docs that are out there. It's bonus content that used to be included with the paid versions of SONAR so that way you can use additional features immediately with Cakewalk by BandLab. They're broken into separate installers because that means you don't have to download and install them every time you do a Cakewalk update. Or maybe you don't like virtual instruments and want to save the hard drive space? Drum Replacer could still be handy there if you want to beef up a part though. Some people like to make custom CbB themes, you'll find a bunch of them on this forum or there's Facebook groups of people who share their own custom themes. Other people don't have an interest to make their own, in which case, you don't need to install it. Melodyne is only a trial, but we leverage features from Melodyne for functions like tempo extraction which will work, even with the demo version.

  13. I found all the presets that have plugins that are not included in Cakewalk by Bandlab. Find all these presets in your Cakewalk Content folder (wherever you installed it) then go to [...\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\FX Chain Presets] and delete all the ones you see in this list: Drums Automate me drum bus master dum bus parallel 2 kick drum life 1 kick drum life 2 kick drum punch snare life snare snap tight warm kick tom bus basic tom bus verb tom helper 1 tom helper 2 tom rack basic Guitar and Basses Big clean creamery can't B bigger clean filtered virus clean hole sun clean N sweet clean slap Modern Bit ripper corruption panel deep modudelay duck duck goose dumb step feedback apparatus liquid morphballs 2 metallic hydrogen nice AND naughty repeaterating super sweet ProChannel advanced shaper z3ta+ fx Retro big classic chorus button box buzz trigger classic slap dirt surfer tape is rolling tideonizor Vocals lead vocal female 2 lead vocal male 2 42 presets in total! It can be annoying finding a preset you want to try then finding out it includes a plugin you don't have. I have never used the FX Chain presets because of that. That's why i decided to finally find all the ones that are like that so that I never have that problem again! ?

  14. I haven't had any VST3 issues in Cakewalk (but I did have a bunch with Manic Compressor - which is also unresolved) It is one of the better delays on the market. Not perfect, but a great all around delay and a good "go to"

  20. Hey Michael, didn't I sell you my rme interface awhile ago? Loved the tune and your voice. I can relate to the feelings expressed, at our age the days can seem bittersweet There's great beauty to the world God created. You-know-who is bent on destroying it. We do not inherit the world from our parents, we borrow it from our children.

  24. Absolutely beautiful bro! Loved the lyrics. I can relate to them a lot. Nice harmonies in the chorus. I really liked when the B3 started coming in toward the middle. The slide guitar added so nice colors to the mix too. Really great!

  25. That's why it was funny dude. I was mocking bapu which I never really do for his refusal to go to fb to retrieve the code which wasn't even necessary cuz you had posted it right there. That said, no way I am going to fb to find that code, so I guess I'll be missing out on this deal ?

  29. Worked on ProjectSAM Symphobia 2. Which is also on sale. So that's a pretty good deal, about $100 less than I paid for Symphobia 1 and 3 during the NI NKS sale. I wonder if that is a mistake also? I do hope they aren't losing money on this extra discount.

  31. Nice video, and I like your track, too. Refreshing to hear something a little different from the usual genres used in tutorial vids. I also like your use of native plug-ins and freeware to get your sounds. You may know this already, but if you would like to have greater control over the individual parameters, I'm pretty certain the MAX Style Dial is a "front end" for either the TL-64 Tube Limiter/Compressor or the Boost 11 Limiter. These are part of the "hidden treasure" plug-ins that come with Cakewalk but that are disabled by default. It's a simple matter to enable them, as well as VX-64 and PX-64, using Cakewalk Plug-In Manager. The Style Dials are great because they're instant access to the important parameters, and it's possible to get at the "guts" behind all of them with those 4 hidden plug-ins. In any case, Boost 11 and TL-64 (click on the buttons that open the advanced panels) are also ways to boost loudness, and they come with Cakewalk.

  32. Whoa, Hillmy, that looks interesting indeed, and they mention Cakewalk compatibility, good on 'em. Ob. pun about being stoked-a55 about Stochas. All groan. In other freeware news, thanks to @Fleer, we know about OB-XD 2.0. I haven't tried it yet, but I've been sprinkling some Synthwave sounds into things lately, so an Oberheim tribute will be a welcome thing. It is free, the button that says "49.00" is for if you want to donate $49.00. If you want to download it, click the appropriate download button. Also, for fellow ambient droners, a company called Quiet Music just released an instrument called Serenity, which isn't as sleepy as it sounds. From what I can make out it's a ROMpler with 3 drone waves in it that you can mix, plus some other basic things like an LFO, filter, reverb. Like a SONiVOX Orchestral Companion but with only 3 samples in it. Maybe "SONiVOX Hippie Companion." It's actually capable of darker moods depending on how you mix the waves and set it. C1-F1 are mapped to field recordings of crickets, birds, then 4 different water sounds, rushing, splashing, rain, waves, and these may all play simultaneously. Someone could, for instance, hold down C1 and C#1 to get the crickets and birds chirping, then bring the water sounds in one by one, then play some ominous intervals with the ambient drone section to evoke God's wrath upon the Earth for the sins of mankind. The UI actually kind of encourages that:

  33. ? Well, cross your fingers! I don't consider a program truly "stable" until I can forget to exit it and leave it running overnight and then sit down and it hasn't frozen or crashed. Cakewalk passed that threshold quite some time ago, to the point where I don't even think about it any more.

  34. In case you hadn't noticed, you no longer must hold the Ctrl key to get your fully-active right-click context menu. It's not just the snap feature that's been amended per your requests.... Speak up, they need to know that it's now really working the way you all wanted it to.?

  39. In the next release, the staff view will respect the global snap setting for note positioning. The note duration settings will remain unchanged. In other words, you'll be able to independently set the note duration and the snap positioning.

  43. Yesterday I finally got my nanoKontrol2 fully working again. I simply did the same steps I tried several times before and don't know exactly why but it's now working fine. Here's what I did for future reference in case someone needs it: 1- Open Sonar and remove nanokontrol2 input/output ports and delete surface control reference 2- Clean uninstall Korg NanKontrol2 driver and device 3- Uninstall Korg Kontrol Software 4- Install driver and software (in this order), shutdown windows 5- Connect and power on all my USB devices (keyboards, modules, interfaces etc) and start windows 6- Connect nanoKontrol2 pressing SET and RECORD buttons (as user manual) 7- Open Sonar and select nanoKontrol2 input and output MIDI ports 8- Start a new Sonar project and record a midi track with nanokontrol as input; move every fader/pot/button to verify some midi data is being recorded by each one 9- Close Sonar and re-open it 10- Create a new control surface using 'Mackie' to nankontrol2 11- Open a project and verified that everything is working fine. Thanks for all your help.
