Do you plan on buying it on opening day or are you going to wait until Larry finds the best price? It might take a few days. And we all know that it will be a lot cheaper down the line. Hmmmmm... I am a guy who likes to wait for sales unless I absolutely need something. I want this NOW, but it will be of no use to the project I'll be working on for the next few weeks. I won't really be able to use it for awhile. So buying it next week would just be GAS. What to do?4 points

There is only one true number. 100% 100% of the people alive today could still *possibly* get it, especially if they or their caregivers are not careful. 100% of the people who died from it, got it and died, which is the saddest statistic. 100% of the people who got it and survived did not die from it, which is the good news in all this.3 points

I just realized that I had forgotten to post my favorite tremolo/panner, Pecheneg Tremolo. Small plug-in house. Really cool GUI, even though the plug-in is 5 years old, I'm a sucker for that glowing diving watch thing. Lets you tune shape, symmetry and phase in continuous flow between the settings, kind of like Soundspot Nebula, if Nebula only did volume and panning. (sorry, it's 5 years old, not 15!)3 points

Sound Aesthetics Sampling (makers of Mountains, Resona, Talua, Autumn Choirs, etc) is releasing a new synth for full Kontakt, FRAGMENTS. It's up on their SITE now. From their copy: Fragments is a free virtual instrument for Kontakt with various Organic Synth sounds, that have been created using various Synthesizers. Most of the sounds have movement within themselves so most of the time tune/pan/volume drift to achieve that fragile tone we're looking for. Also they are all multisampled (except the bonus sounds), which gives you even more variation. In addition to that the engine carries a round robin/variation system to get very organic results. Last but not least does it of course include some cool shaping tools like some deep effects, movement and gate and of course drift for that extra fragileness The product will be listed with a price of $15 in the shop but you can enter three different Coupon codes (FRAGMENTS_FREE, FRAGMENTS_5, FRAGMENTS_10) to get it for free/$5/$10 depending on what you want to give and just to clarify. We won't track if you pay something or not, it's just because some people are willing to and this makes it a lot easier for us to work with. I hope this sounds fair to everyone While you're at it, they have a freebie called Consona and have introduced another new product, Paradise Lost Redux, which is only $9.99 until 5/23. I have the four instruments listed above and they are all beautiful. I had no idea they have been adding so many more. I'll be paying attention the next time there is a sale. They often offer amazing deals and when I hear about the next one, I'll post it here, if Larry doesn't get to it before me. ?2 points

I was watching Davide Carbone introduce the capabilities of Scaler 2.0. Along the way in one of his YouTube clips he briefly brought up Carbon Electra for a patch - and it sounded nice in that spot. I'd heard of Carbon Electra, but never paid attention to it. Today I reviewed a few of the YouTube clips on Carbon Electra and it really has quite a good sound, and it's possible to dial in some cool attitude. In the explanations it's mentioned that all the settings are on the one page which seems nice. Although I need a new synth around the same degree as I need a new reverb or compressor or EQ (meaning, I don't need another one at all), this one seems very worthy. So I grabbed it. Not a screaming deal - but it is on sale at the moment at Plugin Boutique. For $59 I picked up the bundle which is Carbon Electra and 3 expansion packs. https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/58-Inst-Bundle/4742-Carbon-Electra-Bundle If you haven't checked out any YouTube clips on Carbon Electra, it's worth a look! It got my attention. I'll top it off to say that Scaler 2.0 looks like a must have, and Davide who is behind Scaler 2.0 is also behind Carbon Electra.2 points

I just did this a few days ago. Install the XNL installer https://www.xlnaudio.com/demos Log in with the e mail account you are registered with. Follow the prompts to install the products you want. Now open Cakewalk and run the plug in scanner. Done2 points

Worth noting that I ended up with £1.90 in virtual cash after buying and rating the included products. So cost of crossgrade was reduced from £7.98 to about £6.2 points

I hate them! I would like it to try now, at once... No wait anymore... Probably I would prefer not to know about , as nothing new just adding stress not having it yet, grrr.... They could add at least little bit more info every day of waiting... Not just pain to waiting ?2 points

Occasionally Windows updates don't update properly. I found this with the most recent update, which was causing my system to occasionally BSOD on reboot. What I normally do is run a cmd window as admin and run a system file check: More info on what this does : https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/system-file-check-sfc-scan-and-repair-system-files/bc609315-da1f-4775-812c-695b60477a932 points

It may come back, depending on the whim of a Win10 update. For awhile, Win10 would reset my settings, and start turning off USB ports with every update. That behavior seems to have calmed, but I still occasionally find USB ports reset to power down once again!2 points

Re-installing CbB should be pretty painless - it doesn't alter any user settings. I quite often do it several times a day. The easiest way to do this would be to run the rollback installer, then install 2020.04 again via BandLab assistant. A link to the rollback installer is in this post:2 points

It's not that simple. If it was just social isolation for 2 months, that's cool, no problem. The issue for me is the number of people who have lost their jobs and livelihoods (indirectly) because of the isolation that's the concern for me. It's going to take years, it not decades, to recover from the economic effects of this.2 points

To import midifiles to Ripchord they have to be midi type 0. I have successfully imported midi type 0 with up to 3 tracks in them. To see what type it is. - Open the mediabrowser and go to your midifiles. - Highlight a midifile and look at the bottom of the mediabrowser window. In its frame is some info about the file. With midifiles you will see the type and number of tracks in it. Most of your midifiles probably is of type 1 so you have to convert to type 0. The quickest and easiest must be this little converter i found. http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/software/midiformat/index.htm It install fine on win7 and 8. Probably also on win10 because it was updated this year. It's 32-bit but works fine and fast. I browsed to a folder with 40 midifiles type 1. Told it to put the converted file to the source folder and add a zero to the filename. The whole folder was done within a second. This is a page with free midi chord progressions you then could import to ripchord. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:MIDI_files_of_chord_progressions ADDED May28: Info from user Michael A.D. You are not limited to one keypress. So you might set up basic chords that one finger plays and upper extensions that another finger could play. RipChord is also great fun feeding into Chord Potion. PS. Did you know that someone collected all midifiles before Geocities was shut down? 51000 midifiles. https://archive.org/details/archiveteam-geocities-midi-collection-20091 point

Simple request. I love the auto track zoom. Makes it really easy to have quick focusing on a track at a time. But the fact that I have to click on the track on the left side, is a little counter intuitive. Usually, if I need to zoom a track, it's because I need to adjust an envelope or edit a clip and nudge it around and I want to better see the wave form or have better precision when modifying envelope nodes. As such, I'd like an option to make it so if I click on a clip in a track, it automatically switches zoom to the track that contains that clip. Additional thought: If I have clips that are grouped, should all tracks with the grouped clips be zoomed together? Probably not. This could be a nightmare, especially if working on a full set of acoustic drum tracks.1 point

Your issue does not make sense to me. Hardware would not have any bearing on tempo. Glitches and pauses yes, but a tempo slowing down is normally only controlled by the software ( DAW) You re installing probably just cleared out the cobwebs.1 point

You can try it and see. But my guess would be once you freeze the track all effects will be bounce in and you should be able to copy and move stuff around since they are just audio clips. However, if you ever unfreeze all these edits will be lost.1 point

Maybe try renaming the file "TTSSEQ.INI" so that Cakewalk will rebuild the .ini file from defaults. Location: "C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core"1 point

Kenny these are great....and why I don't put my picture up for an avatar lol. I was kicked off the violinist forum for doing this exact same thing with a person's face there. I thought it was funny. They wouldn't know a joke if it bit them on the weeney. I have you to thank for getting me away from that bunch of you know whats. Thanks! Aside from the bad dreams I'll probably have to night as a result, I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 point

You need to make that a "link" Claudio. Like this: Where Orchids Go To Die Oh boy howdy, you do have a "message" Claudio! tom Pretty sure the Oh boy howdy won't translate; yep, it just won't translate...1 point

I guess I had similar thinking even though I own SoundForge, Vegas and Acid Pro. I don't think my version of SF is the pro version though. I had prior accumulated the Izotope versions of RX. Those are not the "pro" versions either although a few times they saved my hide in removing pops and clicks from recorded tracks in Vegas. I'll admit to a few probably unfounded biases. That old Windows looking UI. All of those programs seem to have retained it. On one level I understand that these are windows programs and as such they have windows graphics DNA. That "look" to me though says "old" and "outdated". Granted I'm not a windows programs writer. I think people like that don't give it much thought. They are instead more interested in what the program can do. One thing I think highlights this even more is all of the sleek looking web pages and DAWs out there. Then when I go back to the SF stuff it feels like 1992 or something. I am SO glad Cakewalk moved into the Aero look back in the X days. Magix programs have improved in function and overall stability. I like that they are keeping with the times in that regard, but it's time for them to be looking at updating the look of those programs IMHO. I still like the general way that program works, I just wish I could call it up in Cakewalk, edit audio, close the program and have an edit reside in Cakewalk. Even if it was a destructive edit. Otherwise I have to open two programs, edit audio, reinsert said audio back into Cakewalk. This looks like a very nice solution. Thanks. I'll look into it as an option. Scook is a very computer savvy smart dude who is an ace helper here on the CW forum. Scook we thank you! Please take into consideration this as a later addition to Cakewalk. Slide Mr. Scook some re numeration for his trouble or at the least make it worth his while. I would LOVE to see this feature since A. Most DAWS are not able to do the kinds of editing we sometimes need to do and B. Not everyone is capable of adding the scook program or knows how to do it. I know the DAW is free. I know it's probably asking a lot. I don't think the feature would be unused. Nothing is seriously bugging me about the Sound Forge other than the dated GUI and the fact that we can't bring it into Cakewalk the way msmcleod demonstrates it with Acoustica Basic. Yes I could find and download scook's program, but to be fair this isn't the answer most of the user base would want to hear. No one likes work arounds and this is a work around.1 point

Fun to see how this at $39.99 draws more interest than the Lindell or even the Millennia each at $29.99 since the $25 off May coupon only works with a minimum spend of $39. They don’t call it PA Poker for nothing.1 point

I've been using pro tools 7 years, and I'm gona tell you now, when it comes to going "into" the wave form - cakewalk does it pretty much the same. It's just more "Old-skool" with it. That's why we need more Hiphop/EDM producers and engineers such as myself - using Cakewalk. I'm excited to say, that will change soon. I have posted a topic to request and introduce Cakewalk to "Visual clip gain" and it was picked up, which we're getting soon. Yeah! ? ???1 point

+1 I don't hate it quite that much but see it as pointless and getting in the way when you have a decent multi-monitor setup. Now docking Melodyne into it every single time Melodyne opens *is* something I loathe ?1 point

Here's a good bump* for the thread: RealSpread is an interesting single-knob stereoizer plug-in by TrualityAudio. Since I love to work with nasty little mono phone recordings where someone was standing in the corner behind the drum kit, I just can't have enough stereo processing plug-ins Truality is the brainchild of Antonakis Christoforides. a broadcast and recording engineer in Cyprus. I'm always interested to check out the results when people have psychoacoustic theories to put into practice and he has done so in the form of two plug-ins. The other is a one-knob compressor he calls TruPressor which he also says has some psychoacoustic magic under the hood but I haven't tried it much yet except to make sure it didn't crash Cakewalk so I could post it here. Although I was interested when I first ran across his stuff on KVR, they were both 32-bit, and we don't post 32-bit in the thread, but he has gotten busy with his Flowstone compiler and they are now both 64-bit VST2. *Since this and the Freeware Instruments thread are not stickied, they become invisible unless they get bumped. It's a nice thing to do to post in this thread whenever you spot a good freebie, not just for us freeware hounds, but as a service to new users, to have the thread on the first page. Since Cakewalk doesn't come with a large number of exotic plug-ins anymore, but there are excellent ones among its freeware brethren, new users can get a faster start if they know where to find the goodies.1 point

Many thanks for your response - that's absolutely brilliant: it's possible then to add notes at the take level (ie lanes), Track level (description in the track properties), and project level. It's funny how I've never noticed that after so many years of using Cakewalk and wishing I could! Thanks so much ?1 point

These should all be 64-bit: Chorus: Azurite by Distorque. Incredible sounding and flexible. Clipper: Free Clip by Venn Audio. I don't use clippers all the time, but for the limited use I have I don't see any point in having anything but this. Opto comp: SLAX by Sonic Anomaly. Nice and simple LA-2Aish compressor. Leveling Tool by AdHd Audio Tools. Variety is nice, though this one has a bit of high-end roll off. Distortion/Fuzz: Face Bender and Rangebastard by Distorque. I don't record a lot of guitar any longer, but when I did it was hard not reach for one of these on every track. Limiter: LoudMax by Thomas Mundt. K.I.S.S. principle in action. Metering: K-Meter by mzuther. Sometimes you just need a big meter, yeah? Monitoring: ISOL8 by TBProAudio. Permanent resident on my mix bus. I think the rest of my free arsenal has been covered in previous posts.1 point

Good on ya for taking the trouble to find it and put the bump on. I happen to have another nice giveaway, this one from our friend Boz Millar of Boz Digital. It was actually released a couple of days ago, it's designed to ease the psychological effects of isolation. It's a virtual companion for the studio, uses AI technology to mimic human behavior: Boz Digital Labs Studio Companion Make sure to hit the button for "Live" mode. I found out that interesting effects may be achieved by clicking on a companion icon before another has finished its output.1 point

To fix this for NX you need to rename the app's folder. I think I've posted about this before (perhaps on the old forum). Not sure it would work on the AR version or not. I renamed "C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\Plug-Ins V10\WavesHeadTracker" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\Plug-Ins V10\WavesHeadTrackerOFF" I think. Been a while since I did this.1 point
