SPAN Plus is available in AAX, AudioUnit, VST and VST3 plug-in formats (including native 64-bit support), for macOS (v10.7 and later), and Windows computers. SPAN Plus is an extended version of the freeware SPAN plug-in: SPAN Plus provides several additional features such as PNG file export, real-time spectrum import/export and static spectrums display. Version 1.5 includes the following changes: Fixed issue with "Spectrum Offset" display modes. Fixed display "notching" of high-resolution spectrum. Added Retina support on macOS, and automatic high-resolution UI size adjustment on Windows. Added "anti-aliasing" spectrum display mode. SPAN Plus provides you with a very flexible “mode” system which you can use to setup your spectrum analyzer preferences. You may specify Fourier block size in samples, FFT window overlap percentage, spectrum's visual slope. Beside that you can choose to display secondary spectrum of a desired type (e.g. real-time maximum, all-time maximum). Spectrum can be smoothed out visually for an easier examination. SPAN Plus supports multi-channel analysis and can be set to display spectrums from two different channels or channel groups at the same time. Spectrum's color can be chosen to taste. SPAN Plus also features output level metering with adjustable ballistics and integration time, K-metering (including calibration K-metering). SPAN Plus displays level metering statistics, headroom estimation and clipping detection. Correlation metering is available as well. SPAN Plus features: Real-time spectrum import/export PNG file export Static spectrums display Output signal power statistics Spectrum smoothing User interface window resizing Clipping statistics Correlation meter K-metering Stereo and multi-channel analysis Mid/side analysis Internal channel routing Channel grouping Preset manager Undo/redo history A/B comparisons Contextual hint messages All sample rates support Retina and HighDPI support Demo version of SPAN Plus can be downloaded freely at the Voxengo web site: http://www.voxengo.com/product/spanplus/?eref=ml

  9. I grabbed this one, since I am a sucker for no-brainers. First impression: it is a quite good, although there are some things I'm still undecided on. The cymbals are all very nice, with smooth shift between velocity layers and the crescendo/rolls sound great and not phasey or artificial. Really useful. Hand drums, drums, snares, etc -- all great, and a nice mix of tones. The different mic positions are really useful and I already have some mic mixes that work well with my existing template. Glock/Crotales/ Tubular Bells, etc -- bright and clear, sound great. I really like the choke key for the tubular bells, since not all libraries have that feature, for whatever reason. The different mics on the tubular bells really vary the sound, although to my ears the bells do have a bit of a thwack sound to them, like the mallet/chime hammer being used is pretty hard. Not a problem for me, but if you want a more sonorous and/or warmer tone, these might not be quite what you are looking for. Marimba - quite lovely, with a smooth mix of velocity layers Timpanis - Gotta admit, these are disappointing me so far. There are some nice samples here, for sure, but I don't find the transition between velocity layers is quite as smooth as I'd like, and I'm not all that keen on the timp rolls with the mod wheel. It could be that I just need more time with them, but I find the rolls are really phasey if you move the mod wheel too fast, and they cut off instantly - and very artificially - when you let go of the key. That would be fine if you could cap the roll off with a single hit, but I find that the tone of the rolls does not match with the tone of the single hits, and so doing a crescendo / end strike with the mod wheel and the single hits just doesn't sound real to my ears. I gotta play with this more, see if it's just a matter of finding the right velocity. But so far, I don't see me using the timps all that much. I have other timp libraries that better suit my template. Overall though, this collection is totally worth $48 bucks, as there is a ton of great stuff in it.

  10. The article is dated February 23, 2018 so you're a wee bit early Kzmaier but, close enough to start wishing Cakewalk by BandLab a Happy Anniversary for sure. I only have positive feelings for the way BandLab has handled the purchase, transition and product reboot. That so much has been accomplished in a year is remarkable. That Meng reached out to former users, was as transparent in his communications as possible and rebuilt the development team is astounding. Happy 1st Anniversary Cakewalk by BandLab!

  11. Thanks! ? Yes, it's the "Panic" button of Cakewalk Professional 3 for Windows. I still have it installed in my WinXP side of my current DAW (dual boot) and use it sometime (since 1994). If only Cakewalk re-release it to work on 64 bit machine...

  14. This is the one I mostly use (I have RX, Acon Digital's Restoration Suite and Accusonus' ERA plugins, though not their full ERA-D). Still Brusfri gets most use. The result are always good and it's easy to use.

  15. FWIW, Those are the same parameters that are on the Kemper Profiler. ? Steven Slate alluded to TH-U being able to load Kemper profiles. What's been released thus far (at least to the general public) doesn't allow directly loading Kemper Profiles. Allowing the user to load Kemper Profiles (assuming they sound identical to the Kemper) would be huge.

  19. Typically abandonware is software that the owner has released without license and support. That is different from just stopping, sale development and support, because it includes the express or effective permission to anyone to use the software without paying for it. Consider the old car in the barn. You may not be driving it or maintaining it, and you may not have any intention of selling it to anyone, but it still belongs to you and you could still charge someone with auto theft it they took it. It is pretty rare for the owner of software rights to give them away to the world, although not so unusual for the owner to no longer care if they are stolen, and not pursue the thief. Much of the "abandonware" available for free on the net is basically in this latter category. Short of issuing a new license that, like some in the Creative Commons system allows anyone to use it freely, or making some explicit statement that the product is being transferred to the public domain, copyright stays with the product until it expires, and ownership of the copyright can almost always be assigned to the original owner his heirs of assigns. So cracked versions of SONAR are almost certainly still cracked, and their use distribution or modification by anyone not licensed is not legal.

  20. This plugin is worth checking out even if you have others noise removal plugs. I have both Klevgrand Brusfri and Izotope RX. I have not compared Brusfri against RX7 (actually have not had opportunity or need yet) but I have compared against RX6 and on some material it did a better job.

  22. In order to install V-Vocal, a small portion of the DAW which included the plug-in must be installed. The last versions to bundle V-Vocal were X2 Producer and Studio. To get V-Vocal installed requires an advanced install of a version of SONAR which included the plug-in. After selecting the advanced install option select Minimal Installation from the advance install options like this example using X2 A full version of Melodyne Essential was included with X3 Producer and Studio. This should have been used instead of the trial bundled with CbB if one owned either of those versions of X3. If registered, the license would be in your Celemony account.

  24. Thank you, Bandlab, for reviving Cakewalk a year ago this week! Some of us never quit using Sonar after Gibson dropped the program, so it was great to see Bandlab step in and make our favorite DAW more rock-solid than ever.

  26. I was a hold out on X3 until late 2016, and even then I had a lot to catch up on. Many of the articles, especially the eZines in that "Whats New" link were helpful in getting me caught up! But it was very smooth transition, because the changes made were incremental, and not disruptive to workflow. Many new features were things that had been on the feature request list for a while, so were welcome additions. I think a few of my favorites are direct synth recording, patch points, and aux tracks. Ripple editing was also a big deal for many!

  28. The last two Melodyne updates (4.2.0 and 4.2.1) have broken this functionality. Basically Melodyne now forgets its default detection algorithm, so when you try the drag/drop it causes Cakewalk to crash. The 4.1.x version that ships with Cakewalk works fine. A workaround for the newer Melodyne updates is to create a Melodyne region fx first, re-select the detection algorithm in Melodyne, and then drag the audio clip to the MIDI track.

  30. Thank you I will see if I can find any dumps
    1 point
  31. If there are dmp files associated with the crashes, they should be in %appdata%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\MiniDumps Zip up one or two and send to support with a description of the problem, include CbB version, OS and PC hardware details. Crashes are a support issue. They are a "technical problem." Examples of things that are not technical issues and not support issues are "how do I record audio" and "what is MIDI." The problem may be related to the offline render algorithm selected in preferences.

  32. Allright. But I don't believe I am having technical issues. I believe the Cakewalk code is having issues Problem: Time/stretch tool I have experienced this problem in two different projects. I will only detailed explain one of them since the error is the same in both - A bass track. The bass is out of time here and there, so I just stretch it until it fits. I split the take up into many parts and then stretch as needed - Then to save proccessing power after everything is perfect, I select "bounce to clips" Every single time I do this, Cakewalk just crashes. Boom - gone. - I try to freeze the track instead - Same problem. Cakewalk crashes completely. - I bounce part by part of the bass track until I find the tiny little part causing this issue, a take no more than a few seconds long. Every single time I try to bounce this tiny clip, cakewalk just dies. - I re-stretch it a little bit and try again - problem solved. It is quite annoying because I need to spend a lot of time figuring out which of the hundreds of tiny clips is causing this to happen. The positive thing is that it is motivating me to just record a better take instead of fixing the out of time ones. Just like in the old days. I don't use the time/stretch tool more than I have to now because I simply don't have the time to sit for hours figuring out which of the clips are causing the error. Thanks for listening folks

  33. To Garyed; Sonar X1 came out early in 2012. It is a very old version with very limited features. Its major reason for being introduced was to implement the Skylight UI. All the versions since then have been refinements of that UI and adding new and very useful features. The new Cakewalk by Bandlab is an improved Sonar Platinum. It is very much in your favor to upgrade to Cakewalk. (It is free by the way.) You can still use X1 but I believe once you try Cakewalk you wont want to. I wish I could list all the improvements in Cakewalk but there are simply too many from X1 to attempt it.

  34. I have a handful of their starter packages, and really like the sound of them. But the lost / broken key policy, which requires you to buy back libraries you have already purchased -- unless you buy into their insurance policy -- is ridiculous and insulting. I no longer have any interest in buying into their ecosystem.
