Be warned. I followed those instructions last fall and there obviously were still files hidden elsewhere because it didn’t resolve my issue. I ended up just re installing W11 which was pretty easy to do. Took a few hours to reinstall the software I use and my plug ins. You just have to make sure you deactivate some plug is first. I think it’s only Air that was a problem. But it was worth it as it really zapped all the cobwebs out of the corners and perked up my machine. Lots of issues were now solved. Im still bumping into missing plug is sometimes but most are easily substituted.

FWIW - I'm running a i7-3770 @ 3.4GHz... I've now got 32GB ram, but was running on 16GB for years. I'm typically use an ASIO buffer size of 64 Likewise here on a 10-year-old i7 6700k @ 4.0Ghz with 24GB. It continues to run great for my purposes - admittedly using a generally limited number of synths and FX plugins compared to what some users require. But running more plugins just requires raising the ASIO buffer. 8GB would already have been considered somewhat marginal even in the Sonar 8 era, but is no more limiting now than it would have been then. If it's possble to double it, that would be advisable.

Cakewalk Product Center Not Showing Add-Ons
michaelhanson replied to henkejs's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
I attempted to update my email at Command Center. A very old email was used for my original log on and I no longer have access to it. I got the response that it sent me an email to confirm, which I am never getting. Sadly, It seems that I can no longer access any of my Legacy Products. I was after Rapture. Such an excellent plug in. -

New FREE version/tier of the venerable Cakewalk Sonar
Brian Walton replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
I'd agree if one was stuck in that ecosystem, but if you work cross platform yourself or with bamdmates that lands right back to the Sonar situation. I guess it also depends on what you need and how you work with the DAW. Reaper is a lot less expensive even though Logic came down dramatically in price since the early days. -
Do you mean Cakewalk by Bandlab? If so then no. You will stop being able to activate it in august. They suggest using thier new free version of Sonar. https://downloads.bandlab.com/cakewalk/Sonar/31.06.0.034/Release/Cakewalk_Sonar_Release_Setup_31.06.0.034.exe

These are the steps support gave me when troubleshooting an issue: 1) Uninstall Cakewalk Sonar. This is normally done via the Control Panel in Windows and choosing Cakewalk Sonar to uninstall the program. This will not remove your plug-ins, project files or audio data. 2) After the uninstalling, open the Run Prompt. In Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11, you can open the Run Prompt by holding down the Windows key and pressing “R” on the keyboard. 3) At the Prompt, type regedit and click [OK]. 4) Click [Yes] if asked to allow the program to make changes to your computer. Important: When you access the Registry Editor, create a backup by going to File > Export. In the Export Registry File window that comes up, make sure “Export range” is set to “All” and that “Save as type” is set to “Registration Files (*.reg)”. It is very important to create a backup of your registry because if you accidentally delete a registry key there is no undo function. You can, however, double-click on the Registry backup you made above to re-import your registry keys if you make any mistakes. You must re-import your backup (if needed) before restarting your computer. 5) Delete the following Registry keys: If you do not have one of the Registry keys below, simply proceed to the next one on the list. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\ Core HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\ Core HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\ Core 6) Open the Run Prompt again. 7) Copy and paste %appdata%\Cakewalk into the prompt and click [OK]. On Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11, the “AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk” folder will open. 😎 Right-click on the Cakewalk Core folder and choose “Delete.” 9) Delete the contents of the following directory: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core 10) At this point, click the link below to install the latest version of Cakewalk Sonar: https://downloads.bandlab.com/cakewalk/Sonar/31.06.0.034/Release/Cakewalk_Sonar_Release_Setup_31.06.0.034.exe

Free version of Cakewalk Sonar now available

So exactly the same chance as any other software company. And I was referencing someone who said they "can pull the plug at any time they wish, which doesn't happen with other companies" Two completely different scenarios, don't you agree? -
After several Sound on Sound passes , the curser stops on the timeline instead of back to the beginning of the clip. When I press play it quickly returns and plays normally. Once this starts I have to close and reopen Sonar to get it to start behaving normally again. First Sonar project and new issue for me. Anyone else seen this ? mark

Cakewalk Sonar crashing repeatedly for months now
John Vere replied to ccondon23's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
I have no sympathy for people who continued to use Cakewalk. We were told 2 years ago the day would come so smart people either moved to the supported version or switched Daw's. You have at least a month now to do what you should have done at least a year ago. Back up all your important work using Midi and Stems. Using Free software is not the same as using software you pay for and especially software you own. -

I can... that'd be great if you could take a look. Where do I send it to?
-
Yes and that has been the behavior for decades. It's nothing to do with this version of Sonar.
-
Read the official FAQ at the bottom of this page where everything about Cbb is explained. https://www.cakewalk.com/sonar This is not the post to get into that.
-
I'll try to explain better what's happening in my installation. I inserted 2 plugins and, after opening them, I positioned them where I wanted. If I close any of them and open them again, instead of them keeping the position on the screen where they were closed, they open in the position of the last plugin that remained or was open.
