happen135 started following Waves Sync Vx crashes
-
CbB125 version, loading Waves15 Sync Vx in Region FX format caused CbB to crash, and the MIDI input/output monitor in the bottom right corner of the desktop could not exit, so the computer had to be restarted. What is the reason?

Free version of Cakewalk Sonar now available

Do you mean the link below , the first post in this thread????? (No issue to me, just trying to help @pmj_rit as it wasn't obvious what you meant at least to me, and figured perhaps if you answer before the person having the problem is back it will be clear and they don't have to ask.) -
I seemed to have left that out since my other romplers actually work. That did the trick. I noticed without that Sampltron wouldn't load either. I had to go back and redo the audio settings in the B3 as well Double check the other romplers powered by ST to make sure they work I probably wont install this update despite that. When a developer removes something and claim improvements without listing them - buyer beware. When Reaper is updated they list everything.

Cakewalk Command Center not connected anymore?

EDIT: meant this to be a report on the post quited below, not a post in the thread. đ Sequioa is a mac OS version; I would guess this is some AI spambot that hasn't come back to add their spam yet. -

Not knowing which specific things you're referring to...If they're "rehashing" the same things, maybe that's because they are issues that need to be corrected? As a general rule, you don't get multiple people asking for or speaking against the same specific things, especially taking the time to keep restating it at every opportunity, unless they are a problem for those people. And in general, only a few percent (at most, usually many less) of any particular group of poeple will speak up about something, so there are likely many times the vocal amount of people that want (or don't want) whatever it is that's being spoken about. Please remember: Just because something (whatever it is) isn't a problem for one subset of people, doesn't negate the problem for all those that it does affect.

Everything should migrate fine moving from any legacy Cakewalk app to Cakewalk Sonar. -
Cakewalk now exclusively available through BandLab Membership

I am of the mind that still my Sonar Professional perpetual license should be honored by Bandlab, out of hand. It has been interesting watching the product development. -
i could not agree more! i love the workflow, but the look is so uninspiring. i hope the bakers are listening.

Thatâs why I said by default. I always think of the pro channel as the Channel Insert like when we used the TRS -Y cable to your hardware. Generally a patch bay was involved. The bin is sort of a second Insert point. Most Dawâs donât have 2 inserts. Only the bin. Anyone coming from using a hardware studio mixing desk âgets itâ. But it must be pretty confusing to the rest.

@Noel Borthwick Thanks for the quick response. Your answer was what I was expecting. But I'm still glad I asked and received a knowledgeable response rather than making an incorrect assumption.

Typically I never save bounce data with the project which will change on further project work, I'll extract the current mix audio & close without saving which deletes the bounce data.. it didn't occur to me that deleted previously saved audio tracks persists when the project is again saved. So once again thanks for the info! Oh & CbB does the same, I guess I should have known....

I went ahead and installed Sonar with a 1 year subscription. I'm satisfied with the program, it does everything I want it to do. I have one complaint: The color options should be expanded quite a bit. Particularly the event list, I'd like to be able to color code events in my own color choices that are easier on my eyes.. Sonar has been around for a long time and many users are getting up in age. Color options will really help. Please make that a priority! Jerry https://www.jerrygerber.com

Sonar does not look like a serious piece of software anymore. Rectangles with a center line for fader caps? Really? Look at the custom fader caps in the above CbB theme (thanks to Panu and the old Duckbar). I know that's not possible anymore but can't we have something that at least 'looks' like a fader? Earlier today, when a client saw his project pulled up in Sonar instead of CbB he commented that its flat look was more like EDM software. He's a retired session mandolin player from Nashville working on a solo project and he knows his stuff. The two console views in the above post are two of his tunes. He said it looked unappealing in comparison and chided me again for not using ProTools or Studio One. And using external inserts caused a pause in the audio engine toggling on/off so I couldn't use outboard gear with him here. Embarrassing. I had to switch back to CbB for the rest of the session. Not a good look to a pro and a final nail if it's not fixed before CbB goes belly-up. No numbered hash marks on the meters. That is not a good design choice. I don't look at the numbers at the bottom I look at the meters, like I've been doing in software and hardware for over 50 years. "Somewhere around here" doesn't work for me. The Tungsten theme is the only one that highlights the active plugin in the FX bin so now in a busy mix I can't just look quickly at the FX bins to see which one it is. The other dark themes are pretty meh and the light ones are like looking into the sun. I'd use Cosmic but no active plugin highlight. And, the text and the numbers are kind of blurry. This all bums me out. Since 2007 I haven't really been disappointed in a Sonar release but this one may have broken me. The whole look and feel is so underwhelming. With my studio booked out I need to have a DAW that is both rock solid and inspiring. CbB is both for me. We'll see about Sonar.

Wayne Bangert started following screenset not loading when song opens.
-
In CW/B the screen set will remember the one I setup and save. For example I have the song list, lyrics window and the track window open and positioned where i like it for performing. I name the screenset and lock the screenset and save the file. The lyrics window and the track that has the song lyrics will open when the song file is loaded and the name of the screenset will show in the window on the control bar when the screeset tool is loaded. In the current version of sonar the screen set will not remember what the current screenset is when the file opens so it loads no screen set. I can click on the screen set name or associated number and the screen set then remembers and I get the correct screens. I assume this is a bug that needs corrected. Thanks

If its already running Cbb then its a very good chance it will work as well or better. You can easily verify for yourself by downloading Sonar and running the Free tier with your largest project.

Sounds like the butcher jokes from decades (at least) ago. Did you hear about the butcher who backed into the meat grinder? He got a little behind in his orders. Same thing happened to his wife. Disaster! Old jokes don't die, they get reincarnated!

Another lady tried to save her and went chest first into the same propeller. It was an udder disaster.

I just signed up for a Sonar membership. Where do I download Sonar?
User 905133 replied to tdehan's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
That's how I feel about the whole world--Too Much Confusion. But please don't let it get you down! I had previous versions of Cakewalk's Session Drummer. I don't remember when I got them, but the last time I tried version 1.0.0.7 worked. In fact, I started it up to make sure and it's playing right now in sync with a randomized arp pattern in AIR's Vacuum Pro. JMO: If you already have Cakewalk Session Drummer and the Product Center says it's up-to-date, don't worry. Thanks for asking about this. I'm gonna save it and maybe make something out of the test tune I just did. -
Greetings all... Long-time user of Cakewalk here, back to the late nineties. Purchased almost every version made in that era and still have CW Music Creator 2003 running on my Win10 system (just because I can ) but have been using CbB for over a year now since I realized it was still available (and free). Have dl'd the new Sonar and it is great ... so far. However, I have noticed that everytime Sonar starts up, within a fraction of a second of the splash screen appearing, it creates the empty folder tree "Cakewalk Content\ Audio Library\Audio Export" on my C:\ drive, but in my Preferences/Folder Locations, I have changed all file paths to E:\--relevant pathname-- with the exception of the Export Audio Files filepath which is "%PROJECTFOLDER%\Audio Export" . If I delete this empty folder tree on the C:\ drive that Sonar creates, it comes back the second Sonar starts up again. I don't want to change %PROJECTFOLDER%\Audio Export to a hard-coded e:--pathname--\Audio Export because I want that export folder to "float" with the particular project. Its interesting that Sonar creates these folders before a project has even been selected or loaded. It seems as if Sonar is a little too eager to check folders. By the way, this also happens with CbB, as well. Maybe you guys could fix that this time around. Thanks for the great update, though... -- Frank

Might it be possible that you're mistakenly talking about Studio Instruments Drums (SI-Drum Kit) ? Session Drummer 3 is something else. I have that from a Sonar X2 Producer installation from 2012! You see, that's another issue that reflects unprofessional marketing: there is NOT A SINGLE PLACE on the Internet where you CLEARLY specify what plug-ins are included in the new Cakewalk Sonar. Are the Boost 11, Channel Tools, SI suite and the Sonitus suite still there? Are they in the free tier as well? Are ALL pro-channel modules missing from the free tier, or just the Concrete Limiter? What about the VX-64 Vocal Strip? I have that also from Sonar X2 Producer, but I guess the one included now has been updated, so how do I go about to have the latest one? Do I uninstall Sonar X2 Producer first? You see? Too much confusion...
-
So, you think my current PC with the I7-4770 CPU at 3.40GHz with only 8GB ram will run a full Sonar install ok?? Thanks again đ
