audioschmaudio Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Thanks. I got that email but didn't pay it any attention. I might have missed it without this post. Any recommendations? 1

Any recommendations? Glad it helped! Do you have any of the full instruments, or just the session versions? If you have any of the full ones, then I'd get all the ones you like for that first. If not and you're using the free player, or have all the sessions, then there's more to choose from. If you let us know what instrument you have, then I'm sure you'll end up with recommendations from a few of us on here.

Soundpacks that I already have: Analog Orchestra Analog Essentials Cinémathèque Frontier Funk Essence Funky Cat Ice Crystals Motions Pop Rocks Post Rock Starlight String it Synth City Not looking for anything too experimental but rather some bread and butter sounds for synthwave, pop, funk, blues, rock.

That narrows down the options quite a bit and you've got a number of the ones in there that I would've otherwise recommended. I might need to defer to some of the other guys like @Fleer who might have some good ideas on them! If I had to though, I'm not as much of a fan of strum, so I'd look for more packs for the other two. I don't own this one yet, but I did like a couple of the sounds from a walkthrough https://www.applied-acoustics.com/space-walk/ For UA maybe https://www.applied-acoustics.com/plastic-pop/ This doesn't sound like it fits those genres as closely, but I did come close to grabbing this today so it might worth a look and there is a good preset walkthrough vid: https://www.applied-acoustics.com/low-end-theory-2/ You could also download the latest Swatches and see if it includes any for those instruments that you like to get an idea as well. https://www.applied-acoustics.com/swatches/ 3

Fleer Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago If you like pads, the Ultra Pads sound pack for the analog synth is nice. And there’s a Jazzy one too for Strum. 1
rcklln Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Thank you AAS for another year with a sound pack xmas gift! :) 1

I got that one which I regret not because of the quality but I have a zillion synths with pads and I never really use AAS stuff. I should've gotten the guitar one. Pads are a dime a dozen. 1
Brian Walton Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I think this was the first year I must have unsubscribed from the newsletter not realizing that the offer wouldn't show up in my account without it. Therefore didn't get it, and the link in the OP doesn't seem to unlock it. Just an FYI for others that might be in the same boat. 1

The last years it was difficult for me to find something worth it, but YMMV! IMHO aas is one of those companies (like Overloud and some others) that try to squeeze the same product again and again. Nothing really new, just some new presets to make additional income, instead of doing some real development or new products. These kind of extensions are too expensive considering the effort!

I have many AAS expansions, and I have only grabbed them when they have been on sale (even cheaper at JRRSHOP with the GROUP or FORUM code) 1

Yet some seem to ignore that with Toontrack products. They made a great player but when you start buying those expansions it get pricey and takes up space. As for AAS they are about physical modeling. It's just developers trying to survive in an over saturated market. How many game changing EQ's and compressors can their be? Ever notice every new synth is the thing? We are addicted to shiny and new. Lucky there are people addicted to this. 1

They pretty much give you the printer - but charge an arm and a leg (and sometimes the odd kidney) for the inks. Edited 7 hours ago by Promidi

I can't imagine paying retail for these preset packs, but when they given one way free here and there, I grab them. I think they should do more of that and push users towards the paid full versions. The static presets in the player is of far more limited use given everything baked in. I'm glad they don't try to sell you a new version of the core product every couple years like many other developers do. I personally prefer for an instrument to have a practically indefinite life, just the the real world does. 2

I believe v4 had a 13 year life or so.
