FreeEarCandy Posted yesterday at 04:00 AM Posted yesterday at 04:00 AM Way back in 2009, when I didn't even know what VST meant, and much less how to use it, I tried to pull this cover off as best as I could with my new purchase of sonar by cakewalk. While my heart was 100% in it and my guitar skills were reasonably capable of pulling it off, I didn't really have a good grasp of all the bells and whistles inside of my new DAW and never recorded anything in my life. Moreover, I never fooled around with much piano, drums, bass, synth, etc. Simply stated, I was very limited in a lot of areas that would be necessary to pull this off. Nevertheless, I was able to get something that sounded good enough for me at the time and I posted it on Youtube. To my great surprise I got 50,000 views, which lasted about a week before Youtube took it down and scolded me. Fast forward. I have been revisiting a lot of my older recordings with much better skills in hand, and 1 by 1 doing my best to improve them with some new tools. This be one of them. "Coming Back to Life" is a song by Pink Floyd from their 1994 album The Division Bell, and it is the only track on the album credited solely to David Gilmour. Gilmour has stated that the song was written about his wife, Polly Samson, reflecting on their relationship and the emotional support she provided during difficult times. The lyrics explore themes of isolation, betrayal, healing, and personal transformation, with David reflecting on a period of emotional pain and withdrawal while contemplating a new beginning. A list of some of the things I fixed and used: Vocals - Shure SM57, VX 64 vocals by Cakewalk, Aurora by Isotope, Cascadia by Isotope. Drums-ADrums 1 70's kit Bass - Native Instruments Rickenbacker Organ- Native Instruments Hammond organ Processing - Digitech 2101 signal processor, TH3, Guitar Rig7, Neutron 5, Ozone 11. That about "covers" it. Thanks for listening ahead of time. https://www.bandlab.com/track/d34776d4-3dd6-f011-819b-6045bd3096b1?revId=d24776d4-3dd6-f011-819b-6045bd3096b1 1
