Adding a new part to a project with audio and midi

Hi!

I have a project with midi and tempo changes. Midis are sent to VST instruments... e.g. drums, bass, strings...then I recorded the vocals (audio) and imported guitars (audio). As I did not leave enough space before the song starts, BUT I want to add a short intro with some synth, effects, how do I move all midi and audio back e.g. 10 seconds without messing up what I already have? I tried this some years ago and audio played back faster...and simply selecting all data and moving it back does not work because of the tempo in the tempo "area" with the tempo changes.

What's the best solution to add an intro before the actual song starts without messing up the tempo for midis and my recorded audio files?

Turn on Ripple Edit- Upper Right of screen 

To lock to grid turn on Snap. 

CTRL A to select All 

Move desired location

That's one way. And if the OP does decide to do this, you MUST turn Ripple Edit OFF when you've done

Amore benign way to do this is simple

Position the Now Time cursor where you want measures inserted

From the Project Menu > Insert Time/Measures

 

That's it

But does that move the tempo map? That is why I use Ripple Edit. Cool if it does.

As long as you tick the “Tempo Changes” box, yes.  (I tested this before posting my first response).

You can have used Sonar for years ( this is my 20th) and learn something new everyday! 
I guess that’s how long it would take to memorize the 2,000 pages of the user manual 

Interesting trivia. The Studio Instrument collection and Session Drummer 2 were introduced to Sonar 6 users in 2006.

Hmmm. Agreed on Session Drummer, but according to my spreadsheet, Studio Instruments came along with X1, not before.
