Wookiee Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Your response @bertox makes me want to ask the question, you think the use of a compressed audio format, which FLAC is, is an acceptable way to use audio/CPU cycles in a modern DAW. Especially one that can use 64 nit floating point wave files, at whatever sample rate you decide to upsample to during processing.
Xoo Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago FLAC is lossless unlike mp3. But IMHO, storage is cheap vs. CPU cycles ("every little helps", to coin a phrase), so I'd argue conversion to an immediately usable format (wav for us) makes sense.
