charles kasler Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago Wow lots of responses! I want to take my time to go over each one. The strange thing is that this is an old project that worked before and now doesn't. And yet my template which is also old works and shows the inspector. I would use the template to start a new project but at this stage I'm mostly just remixing old projects

I hate to be dense but I'm still not getting it. If I right click console down in the lower left docking area it gives me the choice of undocking the console view. How do I set it up without floating, that seems too messy to me? I've always just gone back and forth between track and console with shortcuts. Look for the buttons I have labeled in the edited image (of your screenshot) below in views that can be docked/undocked. They are in different areas depending on the view's type and state. Left click them to see the options. Edited 11 hours ago by Chaps
user905133 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Suggestion: Spend 10 - 20 minutes (maybe more) teaching yourself how to use undock and the docking options in all of their variations (which depend on many factors) and ideally you will start to become empowered by what you can do as others have mentioned. It takes a little time and having so much flexibility can become overwhelming (especially since the docking choices can vary depending on various factors), but the more you play around with them (without getting flustered) the more power you will have to set up things based on your own personal preferences. For example, a few minutes ago I put just the Inspector on Mon 2 with Mon 1 containing the Control Bar and the Track View & Console View (toggled by the "d" shortcut) and a full size soft synth on Mon 2 in such a way that I can work on the Soft Synth with or without the Inspector on top of it (thank's to the "i" shortcut) and can even switch the Inspector's contents to see other tracks by selecting them while in the Track View on Mon 1. Thanks for raising the issue and to others for all their comments because I am getting to develop an additional ad hoc workflow preference for some of my compositional tasks! I've added many videos from various people to my watch later to learn from when I find the time, only to end up with the message "x number of unavailable videos are hidden", or have a bookmark to a video only to go back and find "can't find this" or "this video was deleted by the user". I've also bookmarked many posts in many forums to go back and read, only to find they're deleted by the user once I get the chance to do so. Whenever I can see or figure out which user it was I "block" them or "ignore" them so I never have to waste time on them again. Now I have another user / channel to add to the list. It's a waste of any user's time to go find things to learn from, only to have them disappear so that when they go back to learn from them and find they're not there anymore. Any content creator that does this is worthless for this reason. 2
sjoens Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) For giggles try hitting a few Screenset buttons. If you've never messed with them one is bound to include the Inspector. Hit "2" then "I" works here. If this brings it back, you can dupe that screenset to 1. Otherwise it could be you were floating it on another screen when you made the template or saved the project last and now it's off screen where it'll never be seen on that screenset. BTW, the initial screen layout of all projects will always be Screenset 1. Edited 6 hours ago by sjoens
