charles kasler Posted Friday at 09:16 PM Posted Friday at 09:16 PM I posted about this before and didn't get it figured out. I thought it must be just that one particular project but here it is again in a new project. I've checked views, hidden tracks, the shortcut doesn't work. Any other ideas? Thank you
Promidi Posted Friday at 09:55 PM Posted Friday at 09:55 PM I am going to assume you’re using the latest Sonar 2025. The Inspector has always worked here (with all Cakewalk iterations that had it) Maybe you have a corrupted Project Template and you need to create a new Template (one where the Inspector works). If you start a new project and select “Empty” or “-- No Tracks or Buses --”, does the inspector work then?
Chaps Posted Friday at 10:56 PM Posted Friday at 10:56 PM (edited) Just to clarify, which shortcut key are you using? Are your other shortcut keys working? Is it possible your track inspector is collapsed and the shortcut key doesn't expand it? Is the drag bar there to expand it manually? Is it possible that it is undocked and not visible? These are the first things I would check if it happened to me. Edited Friday at 10:58 PM by Chaps 1
charles kasler Posted Friday at 11:06 PM Author Posted Friday at 11:06 PM Thanks for those responses, I'm away from my computer but will check tomorrow and report back.
sjoens Posted yesterday at 07:01 AM Posted yesterday at 07:01 AM Try Workspaces - the #1 culprit for workspace issues and the 1st thing to check when things don't look right. 1
charles kasler Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago Thanks for your responses, a new project works fine, I wasn't using a template because I was just editing old projects, latest version of sonar, other shortcuts work and I'm using the I shortcut, the default, I think it may be collapsed but there's no drag bar to expand it, it is docked and I have the free version so no workspaces, I've never used them. There's something about no drag bar visible, I think that's the key but I don't know what to do about it
Bass Guitar Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago There have been several graphic related glitches in the new Sonar Ive both seen reported here as well as I have a few myself. So possibly this is yet another example. Take screenshots and open a ticket with support. Post the screenshot here too as we might spot something. One thing I can think of is if at some point the project was saved when floating. I have the free version myself and due to the lack of workspace s it’s a royal pain. Every project opens weird and I have to manually move stuff around. My latest graphic glitch is If I open the Browser in existing projects the instrument tab is highlighted but it’s showing the list of effects. It doesn’t do this with new projects. I wrote it off as happening just because I probably saved my workspace in Cakewalk and the instrument tab was my default. I think the effects tab is the default. The other one was in the export dialogue but they fixed it after being reported. So that is why I recommend reporting directly to support and not just here.
lapasoa Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago In the control bar if you open view and then click on inspector no result?
charles kasler Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago Am I missing something in the screenshot? Clicking the inspector in view doesn't help. How do I open a support ticket?
Bass Guitar Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago That’s the multi dock open full screen. it will be hidden behind that view. Float it. Now as you drag it down the bottom will turn blue to show you where it is legal to dock. As you move it up and down you will see that in the upper area the inspector and the browser are not blocked off but if you move it down the blue bar will go full screen and you won’t see the inspector. I thought you were not seeing it in the track view.
charles kasler Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago Thanks, I thought it must have been something like that. I've never used or understood floating and docking. I hate to be dense but I'm still not getting it. If I right click console down in the lower left docking area it gives me the choice of undocking the console view. How do I set it up without floating, that seems too messy to me? I've always just gone back and forth between track and console with shortcuts.
sjoens Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago FWIW, full screen CV is how I have it too. Then hit D to switch back to TV view which should have the Inspector. You can have Inspector in the CV but it's rather redundant except for the MIDI strip. Floating is nice if you have another screen to put it on so TV and CV are open full screen together. 1

I have always had the 2 monitors so my default was the Multi Dock floated to second monitor. But sometimes when working with Melodyne I wanted the Multi Dock view of Melodyne editor open below the track I was working on. That’s why I loved it when they introduced Workspaces. I could now set that up and save it. Over time I have abandoned using the second monitor for the Multi Dock in favour of using the one screen and toggling using D to open the multi dock 3/4 screen. I need my second monitor more for doing other things. The Browser and Inspector are mostly hidden. You get very used to using the shortcuts I - D and B. I know a lot of people don’t use Workspaces but I sure did. I said did because I don’t have them anymore due to using Platinum. And I guess they are also missing from the free version. Im back to putting up with the stupid mindless screen-sets. I hate them. Edited 12 hours ago by Bass Guitar
