Ray Yates Posted Tuesday at 04:31 AM Posted Tuesday at 04:31 AM I updated the arrangement adding 4 bars to the length, so I need to move the tempo changes. The slow down at the end of the song is 4 bars early. Its a complex Rubato ending so I don't want to re-do it. I tried using the selection tool then the move tool, but it fails. ( It just removes the selection) I tried Cut and paste, but "Cut" does not work. I tried Cut Special and that worked the first time but then, when I tried to adjust where I pasted it, Cut Special failed after that. Both Cut and Cut special now does nothing at all. Is there a better way?
Variorum Posted Tuesday at 04:57 AM Posted Tuesday at 04:57 AM If you just need to shift the existing tempo changes 4 measures to the right, you can select the section you need to move (using the normal left-click drag, or right-click lasso) and click on one of the tempo change events and drag all of them 4 measures to the right. Hold Ctrl while dragging to constrain vertical movement. Set Snap to 'Measure' to force movement to snap to measures.
Promidi Posted Tuesday at 08:18 AM Posted Tuesday at 08:18 AM I just a tried cut special and paste special tempo events and it worked here. 1

The better approach would be to Undo and enable Ripple Edit All before inserting/moving; tempo/meter changes, automation, markers, etc. will all move together. 3
AB99 Posted Tuesday at 06:18 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:18 PM (edited) Yes to David's post. But if you do use copy and paste, make sure you select copy special (not just copy), and click on the box for tempo changes, and then if you paste it to the measure(s) you want, the tempo changes will copy with it. Bass Guitar Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Yes for sure Ripple edit is the best option. What I do is turn on Ripple Edit. CTRL A to select whole project Split at the place I want to insert new measures Drag say 4 bars Turn off Ripple Edit and then copy paste
msmcleod Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I find by far the easiest and fastest way is Project->Insert Time/Measures.

I haven't used it for a long time, but Ripple Edit was introduced partly because Insert Time/Measures by itself would not consistently move everything as expected.
AB99 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Is there a video on how to use ripple edit? I just did a project today where I inserted 4 measures. Then I had to move the tempo changes in the tempo map by four measures. It was easy using the copy special function and just copying the tempo map and then pasting it where it needed to moved to. I suppose if there were tempo changes in many parts of the composition, having ripple edit might be faster.
