Hey guys,

has anyone got Musiclab's Slicy Drummer or Rhythm N Chords plugins to work in Sonar? I used to have the original Sonar (still have it actually) and I rather like those 2 MIDI plugins. I know they are as old as the hills, but it would be nice to get them to work if at all possible. Maybe they are just too old.

I've never had the full version of SD, just the Lite that came with some version of SONAR.

What is it that doesn't happen as expected when you set it up in the current version of Sonar?

The specific error would be more helpful in resolving your problem, as the description you give is similar to another error that means something is not installed, but not the same and so probably doesn't mean that.

It also doesn't say what specifically is missing, making it even more difficult to help you find/fix it.

This is what the error says

Cakewalk missing Plug in Standin

Plugin: Musiclab SlicyDrummer

This plugin is missing or improperly installed on your system.

The original plug-in state is saved by this stand in, and will be

restored if you save the project and subsequentyl load it on a

system where the plug-in is properly installed.

Additional plug-in info: Class ID {878A0950-052B-11D6-84A6-00104B7B24A1}.

This error comes up if i click on the "getting started" file in slicydrummer. it opens up Sonar with the plugin in the FX box. If I click to open the plugin - the error comes up. I also cant find SD in the MIDI FX.

That means the plugin is not properly installed, and would need to be reinstalled to fix the problem.

If you don't have the installer, and it is the DXi version, you might be able to manually re-register the plugin using regsvr32.  I don't recall the procedure, but googling that phrase should find instructions.

Oh wow - I remember that !  It was a cool little program and actually taught me a lot about midi back in the day.

If you have DrumTools, which incorporates SlicyDrummer and FillinDrummer, it will load as a 32-bit VST with no problem in Sonar.  It is a little clunky to use, but I sure do love those plugins.

Ah well I guess its not the DXi version of slicydrummer. Uninstalled it and removed from the registry. Re installed it and unfortunately the same thing happend, even when I moved the dll file to the shared midi plugins folder., and again it doesnt show up in the MFX box or plugin layouts. I tried but I guess its too old to function with this version of cakewalk. Many thanks for your suggestions guys - its greatly appreciated on this end.
