sjoens
Ever since X2 we've had "special" versions of Copy, Cut, Paste, and Delete. Delete Special has enough options, including delete hole, to sometimes not need Ripple Edit. With all options checked, the data after the deleted area slides back to remove the gap with no bouncing required on MIDI tracks. It works for all tracks at once too. Just like Ripple Edit for some reason, Audio tracks are left with a new clip requiring a bounce. Currently no key bindings are assigned but can be. Bass Guitar
I think the difference is that Ripple edit also removes chunks of data from the tempo track and automation. Im pretty sure deleting a hole doesn’t.
sjoens
I'm sure RE is more robust but for quick simple jobs, Delete Special works without worrying about whether I forgot to turn RE off or not.
Wookiee
@sjoens both delete and delete special are not as complete as they could be. Ripple Edit affects all data, including envelopes.
