sixstringdrummer Posted October 8 Posted October 8 I attempted to record a new track on an existing project. Everything is set up correctly as usual, the meter is reading a signal, but it will not record. I tried opening a new blank project, and it recorded fine. I hope one of you can help me with this.
Amberwolf Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Audio? Midi? What are the specific differences between the "broken" project and the "working" one? (one of those differences is almost certainly causing the problem)
mettelus Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Welcome to the forum. The most obvious question is the track you are trying to record armed? When you hit "Record" in the transport, only tracks that are armed (the record button on the track) will actually record; the rest simply play.
Bass Guitar Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Do you have a punch in set somewhere down the line? That’s the first thing I check cause it’s always the problem. 1

I have had this glitch before, and I just select a different track. It almost always works then.

I have never had a properly configured track fail to record except in the circumstance that Bass Guitar mentioned that Punch is inadvertently enabled somewhere else in the project. 2

The errant track was probably misconfigured by me, and instead of trying to find that 1 bad setting (which I did several times and didn't see it 🥴) I found out was quicker for me to start from scratch on a different track. Or it was a computer/interface hiccup. It hasn't happened to me in a while, though.
