Can we have old Cakewalk Platinum together with Sonar from Bandlab?

Hi friends,

Can we install the old 2017 Sonar Platinum version alongside with the new Cakewalk Sonar from Bandlab? Do they share the same install folders and does it may cause any issue?

Thank you

The apps themselves install to different locations, so it's fine to have both installed. The only potential gotcha is to make sure that you install the current Cakewalk Sonar after SONAR Platinum to make sure that all of the shared components (like the VST scanner) are the current version.

That's the problem I am facing now and aborted installation! When installing it says that it was going to substitute a newer version with an old one! 🤔

Be sure to create an image or backup (image is preferred) before tackling things of this scope. For most installations, the last installation dominates, so if you install an older version with an earlier set of shared components, you will need to re-install the latest version over top of that (even if already installed) to bring them back to the current version.

They coexist without issue, I have both installed, but as Jon notes install S-Plat first and then Cakewalk Sonar
