Larry T.
In the old CbB once I set the Buffer Latency I never had to go back and reset it again. In the paid Sonar Platinum it doesn't remember the buffer setting and, it appears that when I started Sonar Plat with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo interface already connected and the Focusrite ASIO driver selected before loading the project, it caused, immediately after opening a new project, a complete shutdown of Sonar. This repeated about three consecutive times. So, I did a few restarts and shutdowns to see if it would self correct and it somewhat did. However, when opening the new project about 3 of my midi synth tracks had no volume, about 3 did. So, I opened an old project and found the same thing. So, I reopened the new project, which didn't shutdown at this point and checked the drivers. Running Windows 11; MME (32bit) is the new default driver Sonar (or Windows??) selects as the default. So, I checked the Buffer slide setting and found it was reset to Fast (all the way to the left). I found this to be a problem before and had found a stable setting at 20.0msec (882 samples) but something changed it. So, once I set the Buffer back to 20.0msec all the problems above went away. Anyone else had this or similar? TIA. Edited 2 hours ago by Larry T.
Amberwolf Posted yesterday at 01:18 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:18 AM Are you using Splat (sonar platinum) or are you using the new sonar premium? Don't know if it makes a difference, but...

Don't know if it makes a difference, but... Hi Amberwolf. Sonar Platinum premium. And....here's the latest: In the new project started and underway I added some electric guitar using the Focusrite Scarlett Solo with its own Asio driver. After recording for about an hour I closed the project and opened about a hour later. I changed to the MME 32bit driver, opened the project and no audio on the midi synth. Luckily I did my routine of loading the Wasapi Shared driver, opening the project and still no audio. Restarted the pc, opened the project, loaded the MME driver and it finally recognized it. Back to work I went. So, what could it be? Windows 11, Focusrite or Splat paid issue? TIA.
jayeyehaich64 Posted yesterday at 02:12 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:12 AM (edited) Sorry for being a bit thick, but it is a little confusing, "Sonar Platinum premium." I've never hear SONAR Platinum referred to as that, as far as I know there is no such thing? and "Splat paid issue" again, SONAR Platinum was only ever PAID So are you using the new Cakewalk Sonar (note non capitals) or SONAR Platinum (note capitalization) or maybe easier put, are you using the newly released Sonar? SONAR <- all caps, refers to the old SONAR's, Platinum and before Sonar <- refers to the new version of Sonar to which there is a Paid version and a FREE version. Had to read again. Launch Sonar. Preference Driver Settings Open the ASIO Panel and Set Buffer APPLY and Press OK Go to Workspace Select APPLY TO WORKSPACE Go to FILE Save As Replace your default template. Set As Default template Edited 20 hours ago by Will.

Change Buffer in Windows and Launch Sonar Preference Driver Settings Match and Set Buffer Workspace APPLY TO WORKSPACE FILE Save As Replace to your default template. Thanks. I'll try that. I thought maybe the Focusrite Scarlett Solo may be resetting the Cakewalk Splat paid version Buffer setting.

Bass Guitar
Why do you keep saying Splat? Or Platinum? That was the Gibson version from 2017. As people are saying the new version is simply Called Sonar. To define the versions if you have the Membership it is referred to as Sonar Premium. The other version is called Sonar Free Tier. And why are you not using ASIO? Did you install the Focusrite driver? Edited 16 hours ago by Bass Guitar

Check their website/forum for info, and maybe try downloading the previous driver release.

Noel Borthwick
Your thread is confusing. There is no Sonar platinum or sonar premium. There is only a single Sonar now. What you get depends on your bandlab membership tier. Free vs membership.

I'm running: Cakewalk Sonar Paid membership Version: 2025.08 (Build 035, 64 bit) Update: I downloaded the new Focusrite Scarlett Solo driver. Seems stable. No Cakewalk Sonar crashes at all. Still having issue with Buffer setting not remaining where I set it. Will run for a few days and post status. Thanks for all the help and patience 👍 Edited 1 hour ago by Larry T. Wookiee
@Larry T., does the buffer setting get changed by other apps? I have noticed running standalone Arturia apps forces my Clarett to 512. But running Sonar pushes back to either 128 or 96 which ever I left Sonar in.
