iZotope Ozone 12 introductory sale:

Easy pass for me on this one. It doesn't really add enough to make it worthwhile from a cost perspective, but even more so, there's no backwards compatibility maintained so you need to keep every version installed on your computer to open old projects.

It's easy just sticking with what you have and skipping multiple years, or forever! No additional redundancy and clutter in the plugins list and plugin scans.

Unless there's a pricing glitch somewhere, my money is safe on this one.

Same...I'll wait for a better sale

"Version 12" for a plugin shouldn't even be a thing. The milkening of customers continues.

I appreciate that something like Pro Q has had 4 paid updates in 16 years. If it were released by iZotope it would be on Version 46, with 8 different versions from free (1-band) to Basic (3 bands), to Advanced (11 bands) to Pro (14 bands) to Pro-Master-Premium-Bundle (26 bands with M/S multi-channel and Breaktweaker for free).

What a **** company lol.

Is O9A still the last version that has a stand-alone app? After realizing that was gone when I got version 10, Ozone fell off the radar for me. If I get into any "major surgery" on something, I definitely prefer stand-alone, but even then SpectraLayers has taken over that slot just because I like the tools and layout better (I stopped upgrading with that at 9 too, it seems, and that is up to version 12 now as well!). Inside the DAW, Ozone is still preferred for mastering work (not sure what's been added TBH), but the surgery part fell to the wayside.

And yet...WAVES is on V15, with most of the plugins being exactly the same as v5.

100% agree.  Given the cost of these plugins, updates should be included for quite a while as material changes are few and far between.

Frankly, this kind of customer milking is sad. It's the same with NI (Komplete) and others.

I would accept a reasonable update price from a last version. But if I look at the poor improvements and the price, I think these are ridiculous upgrades. Usually no one is interested in all the additions and for 1 or 2 small additions that you really use the price is not justified.

Hey All,

I have Ozone 9 and I think I only used it once or twice,   easy pass for me as well.  As a matter of fact, I was just searching my computer for the version of Ozone I have and an .exe for Ozone Imager 9  came up, heck I never finished installing all of Ozone.    LOL 😁

I do forgive NI a bit, because Komplete is an enormous collection of very useful stuff and updates to flagship products- and they add significant content every update for a couple hundred $ on sale. And funny enough, now include Ozone. That Collector's Edition 15 update this round included Kontakt 8,  Action Woodwinds, Fables, Vocal Colors, Guitar Rig 7, Kithara, Valves Pro, a new acoustic guitar, Ukele, Alicias e-keys, upright bass, another bass, another e-keys, Irish instruments, Ozone 11, a couple hybrid instruments and a gazillion expansions (Leap, Massive presets, Scenes, etc.). I can't complain about this. ha.

IMHO it is strange with both iZotope and NI Komplete upgrades: If you own the last or 2nd last version often you pay the same update price as someone else that has a very old version of the product!

For me Komplete 14 (I have 13) had only 3 new products that I was interested in, so in the end I decided to upgrade Kontakt 7 alone. Maybe when there is Kontakt 18 it will be interesting to upgrade again! 😆

I wasn't impressed as much with the latest Komplete Ultimate.  Some of it was loops put in Kontakt.  The best part was upgrading to Kontakt 8 since I couldn't stand 7.

I don't think I've ever really dived into Komplete other than the installation.  It's that habit of always using 3rd party.
