RIP Connie Francis

I know it clashes with my "dark dude persona" and all, but I am extremely fond of her music - mostly because my mother loved her music, so those songs became an integral part of the soundtrack of my life. Her music also seems to evoke a certain image of America and simpler times - burgers and milkshakes and drive-ins and all... Although I did not experience any of that, I grew up in the nostalgia of those years - one of my uncles had a collection of old 50's/early 60's cars, we had a few retro-themed restaurants in the area, and of course my mother was a huge fan of those 50's records and movies like American Graffiti.

I also used to think she looked so pretty on those old album covers.

Anyway...

RIP!

I can relate!  I remember my father having albums he would play of her!   I can still recognize her voice when I hear it  - even if it is not a tune I'm familiar with.

One of the greats - will be missed!

RIP. She was a neighbor of one of my aunts. Not close friends, but acquaintances.

I read that when she was offered the movie “Where They Boys Are” they told her she could have any MGM staff writer she wanted for the theme song. Instead, she picked Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield, and it turned out to be a good choice.

We occasionally gig at Assisted Living Facilities here in Florida, and had one yesterday. We pulled out “Where The Boys Are” and it was the right choice for that audience. Especially since it was filmed in the town I grew up in, Fort Lauderdale.

RIP Connie, and thanks for the music.

She was from NJ. One of the guys I used to work with was related to her. Cousins iirc.

She's on my random playlist all the time from that era of music I listen to. Sad to see her go.

It's hard to tell now days who will fill all these singers shoes from back in that era with all the autotune and AI. Back then, they hit record, the singers and musicians did their thing, and you got what you got. Pure and real.
