Will there be a separate Sonar Free forum ?

Recommended Posts

Just seems to make sense that if we had a CbB forum, there would be a place for the newbies and users of SF!

I would think it would keep the clutter down in the paid SF forum.  Also, I think it would be easier to find your response or question without having to dig thru everyone else's in the paid users!

Just a suggestion! Would be a nice gesture to potential subscribers as well.

I disagree with this. I find that most user forums are not broken down into tier levels. They just have sub forums for specific topics like here we have the Song, Coffee House etc.

I have found it a huge pain having to open at least 4 sub forums here that all have more ore less the same questions asked.

The Sonar sub forum has generally had way less traffic than the Cakewalk sub forum. The Next sub forum has almost zero. But it needs to be separate.

There is almost zero difference between the Free Version and the Premium version so what would be the point?

Since the New Sonar sub forum has been created there has been dozens of questions from legacy users. We help everyone if we can.

On the Cakewalk forum newbie’s questions had almost dried up possibly because the flow of users was leaving, not coming.

This move to a free version is what Sonar needed to stop the decline of users.

I think a re vamp of this forum is in order. Way too many unused sub forums and we don’t need even more.

Hi, John!

I think you may have misunderstood me!

I was not talking about adding a forum here. I was thinking that if CbB becomes deadware after 6 months or so, they could archive the CbB forum and replace it with a Sonar Free forum instead!

It doesn't make sense to me to keep a forum for a product that is no longer downloadable or in fact no longer is operational!

Just a thought!

@Sidney Earl Goodroe,  I agree with "locking down" the CbB sub forum but it needs to continue to be readable because there many threads about legacy DAWs in there.

If there is another sub forum I'd like to have one forum for all depreciated Twelve Tone and Cakewalk products.  Heck, label it DEPRECIATED PRODUCTS so there can be no confusion.

I see what you’re saying. Actually what makes sense is simply re-name the Cakewalk sub forum and call it something like

Free Tier Sonar/ Cakewalk.

This makes sense because it seems like the Cakewalk users are now posting stuff about Sonar in the Cakewalk form anyway because they’re used to posting stuff there.

If anything I would like is to amalgamate the Question and Answers sub forum. It’s exactly the same stuff posted there and I’ve always disliked that it doesn’t show the last post when I am scanning to see if there’s any action on a thread. And barely anyone has ever used the vote system anyway.

What I was getting at is every time I come here I have to open at least the 3 sub forums to see what is happening. Sonar, Cakewalk and Q&A.

@Jim FogleI agree as I too miss the old sub forum that was for Home Studio. I guess the new Home Studio is Cakewalk Next. I like the simplicity of Next. But every time I tried to use it I would run into some major bugs. It is cross platform so has a great potential.

Theres probably a Facebook group for Sonar Legacy users.

After several years of frequenting this, and the legacy, forum my opinion is that the more sub-forums and threads there are the more likely it is that someone will post to the wrong one. There may not be an elegant solution to this problem, especially since the components of the free and subscription models are still fluid.

My view is that Sub Sonar & Free Tier Sonar should be the same forum.

Yes, that will bring all the newbies on board and they are far more likely to get an answer from the more seasoned users than if they were relegated to post in a separate forum where there could well be a lot less traffic.

Make the Cakewalk forum read only from Sept 1st.
