Audio engine crash

Lately, I've been experiencing the following error: Audio Engine Crash, when I start recording (MIDI) or start mixing. But before this happens, the audio starts to crash in some way, and it stops playing and then starts playing again for a very short time, and things like that happen. Honestly, it's super awkward and annoying to work this way, even though everything is set up correctly and I'm working with an audio interface. Is there any solution the community can give me?

FWIW, this is a strange "song" (you've posted in the Songs subforum).

I'll assume it's not really a song, but that you have a problem that needs solving. ;)  So, some questions to get enough info to help:

Which specific audio interface?

Which specific audio interface driver and version?

What audio settings in whatever program you're using?  (you didn't say what that is, and there's at least three commonly-discussed ones here on these forums).

Did it ever work properly?

If so, what specifically was changed between the time it worked and the time it didn't?

The more information you provide, the more likely we are to be able to help.

No strange songs, just my personal work, which isn't important. When I finish it, I'll upload it to the Songs subforum. Thanks for trying to solve my problem. I'll answer some of the questions so you can give me a solution and a more in-depth answer: -Audio interface: Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 -ASIO4ALL audio driver, I don't know the interface version -24-bit bit rate (maximum) and 100% buffer size -Regarding the audio interface, it works fine; I bought it a couple of months ago. But it's worth clarifying that I don't have much experience in the world of music and audio itself, so it could be a personal problem, but also a technical one due to a lack of knowledge 😅.😅

Behringer interfaces wouldn't be most peoples first choice due to the fact that they do not offer a proper ASIO driver.

ASIO4ALL is NOT an ASIO driver.

If it's still within the return window of your supplier, see if they'll exchange it for something else.

Pleeeeease, not again. This uninformed statement keeps turning up over and over in this forum. Indeed, Behringer supply ASIO4All for their cheapest interfaces, but ASIO compliant drivers for the other ones. I've got a Behringer UMC404HD and here's an image from my driver's About tab. See the ASIO Compatible logo?

The OP doesn't have that interface.

Behringer interfaces, undiscrimentally. That's plain wrong.

@Canopus the operative word is "compliant", doesn't mean it is a full ASIO SDK drive it just meets the some of the rules of ASIO.

Interesting. So, please tell me what rules of the full ASIO SDK rules are not met in this particular case? Would be interesting to know.

It would not say compliant simples. As you apparently know ASIO4all is actually Windows XP WMD driver in a wrapper to make it appear to be ASIO. Which was needed back in the 1990's when not all audio hardware had real ASIO drivers, well the good hardware did but the cheap stuff didn't.  Now in this modern day only companies not prepared to pay for the Steinberg license and SDK to develop proper ASIO drivers, use either ASIO4all or ASIO compliant, compliant not actual, just compliant, which is sad.

Of course this may all become totally irrelevant if/when Microsoft introduce the new native Windows ASIO driver, which is if running Windows ARM64 you should have access to along with MIDI 2.0. This drive had been develop in conjunction with Steinberg so should be good for most hardware.

Well, some Behringer drivers, such as the one I have, mentioned above, definitely carries an ASIO logo. To me, that says it's an ASIO compatible driver. I'm sure you know that the full feature set of any SDK is very seldom implemented in products, be it audio interface drivers, VST plugins, or, for that matter, Windows applications. But just because some programs, like Sonar, doesn't make use of all features available in the Windows SDK, doesn't mean it's not a Windows application.

And to end this discussion, I also appreciate the Microsoft initiative to finally release native Windows ASIO drivers.

As I understand Cakewalk have always included the latest ASIO libraries at build time, meaning that the entire ASIO functionality is available to any .dll requiring them makes a call.

The other thing you may not know is that the Cakewalk dev team identified a serious bug in Steinbergs ASIO SDK and provided them with the fix.
