@Jonathan Sasor

What changes are there on the prochannel update?

is it only this?

  • Crash on playback with prochannel plugins on surround bus

That was actually a Sonar side fix. There's no change in the ProChannel modules themselves aside from PC2A and the Concrete Limiter being moved to a separate installer.

Backward compatibility works the same way it always has, you'll get a missing features notification, and the file will open in the older version. Any features that were in CbB projects that are not available in the free tier (and it's not much) will load, but with those functions disabled. If you were using Elastique Pro stretching for example, that would open in the free tier of Sonar to use Elastique Efficient instead.

I want to emphasize that the resources available in the latest free version should remain free as a way of, in fact, maintaining compatibility.

On the latest version is an update to the ProChannel modules.

Tried to install but the message about the update keeps showing on product updates on Sonar.

Tried to install trought cakewalk products center, same thing.

Same happens for me. Click download/install and it seems like it installs but the update is still there as though it is not installed.

hi, since 2025.06 when I press play, it takes many seconds before it starts, but when I press stop it happens immediately.

This is on existing projects. I tried a new Basic project and this did not occur and recording was ok there too.

I disabled all FX and it still occurred.

ESI U168T soundcard, Win11.

regards,

Paul

Where can I find information about what will happen to my projects if my subscription ends and I don't renew it? Will I be able to open them in CbB?

I believe that if you do not renew your subscription and have added paid features to your projects, they will not be available or some type of error will be reported.

However, if your project only has elements that are included in the FREE version, it will continue to open completely.

This is just an opinion from the perspective of the program, but since I have never had a subscription, it is just a thought.

As for me, who only used Cakewalk, I have been using SONAR free/trial fully. Both opening old projects and creating 2 new ones, saving them and then opening them in Cakewalk.

For me, the only error that appeared was a memory error, which I DUMPed in a previous comment in this topic.

1. I bounced to tracks on a project I closed the project and did not save, in the Audio folder the bounced tracks disappeared but there were some additional wav files that get produced that don't get deleted, the same thing happens if the bounced track gets deleted  and the project gets saved. These files have to then be manually deleted.

2.  Shifting to another workspace and then trying to shift back to  basic CS becomes unresponsive and has to be canceled.

Hi

I have not used Cakewalk for some time as I now utilise Vb-Audio Matrix and Voicemeeter. Since I started using these now essential tools Cakewalk will not start properly. Upon opening Cakewalk the Splash opens, even the first time run dialog opens, but after that the program quietly ends. No error message, it just ends quietly. If I had some debug information to provide then i would be more than happy to provide it. But since it does not give any error messages I am at a loss to how to assist. Until then Cakewalk is unusable for me.

Regards

Thanks for your answer! You see, the problem is that you say what you think and I would like to hear the answer from the software manufacturers. I don't understand how I can buy a DAW without knowing the terms of use. I don't know of any other company that doesn't inform users what will happen after the subscription ends. If I wanted to say what I think I would write similarly to you but I just want to know what kind of contract I'm entering instead of guessing what will happen. Unfortunately I'm not given such an opportunity. Strange.

I'm betting Count-in is enabled with a muted metronome bus.

If your subscription ends, functionality will revert to the free version of Sonar, currently this means:

  • Plugin oversampling will be disabled.
  • Anything set to Elastiqué Pro will be rendered using Elastiqué Efficient.
  • Dithering will fallback to using Triangular if it was previously set to POWR.
  • If you had more than one arranger track, you will still be able to access them all, but you will only be able to view one at a time, and you can't delete, rename or add any new ones.  This doesn't affect your existing arrangements, or your ability to create new ones using any of the sections from the existing arranger tracks.
  • Jump to Track will become unavailable
  • You will only be able to preview BandLab sounds from the BandLab Loop library - any that were already used in your project, will still be available.
  • Track Manager will revert to showing the old "Show/Hide Tracks" dialog.  The hidden tracks presets are 100% compatible between the old and new Track Manager.

As long as you don't attempt to edit any of the oversampling/stretching/dithering settings, your existing settings should return to their previous settings if/when you renew your subscription.

Thank you! 👍 Can you provide a source where I can read about this?

I didn't write that I needed additional information.

You said "where can I read about this", if you don't understand that implies you want more information, it explains why you asked.

The information I received here should have been available during the subscription process, not only when I asked about it on the forum.
