Shane_B.
If I had a nickel for every time I played this one that he made famous. This version includes the rare extra verse. It was almost never played on the radio because it was almost 4 minutes long.

hsmusic
RIP Rick, great musician & guitarist. Saw him in concert along with Robin Trower, Jethro Tull & Rory Gallagher 49 years ago! Back in High School my horn band used to crank this tune out. Notes_Norton Posted yesterday at 01:38 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:38 PM In a road band, decades ago, when he was with McCoys, he stopped into our club, we met him, and he seemed like a very nice person. Does anyone know how he met his end? Just curious.

The internet says: Quote His longtime wife, Jenda Derringer, told TMZ he died “peacefully” at a hospital in Ormond Beach, Florida, after being taken off life support following a medical emergency involving his heart. He reportedly underwent triple bypass surgery two months ago. From another source: Quote A family spokesman announced the news on social media, but did not provide a cause or other details. His wife and longtime bandmate, Jenda Derringer, noted in February that her husband had angioplasty for two blockages in his leg that was followed by surgery and complications. She also said he had Type 2 diabetes. And from what appears to be a February 22 reposting of February 21 family posting: Quote We were told by someone not to mention this, yet knew we should have asked for all of prayers. Rick lightly hit his toe on the bed leg over a week ago. He never mentioned that he was using a new bottle of cream on said toe, when his fav hospital is just 5 mins. and his foot doctor is 9 mins. from home! This medical issue has become very serious, with Rick's ring toe being taken today, by the hospital's best surgeon. Rick's right leg, however, had two blockages, that were unblocked prior to surgery. After angioplasty, blood was flowing well and Rick was ready for his surgery. Post-op, the blood is not getting into Rick's foot and toes as much as the hospital would like it to, and that indicates further complications, as he has type 2 diabetes. Rick is asking for everyones collective prayers. He was doing great post-op, but not so good at the moment. Prayer Power please! Much Love from the entire Derringer Fam Edited yesterday at 01:58 PM by User 905133 added quotes from the internet
