Matthew Simon Fletcher
Hi friends - hope you're well. Me again with another new musical project. This one is a lot less heavy and more atmospheric. We worked with a really top engineer on it and I'm so proud of how it turned out If you get chance to listen then I'm so super grateful ❤️ Wishing you a wonderful day! Wookiee
Mix sounds reasonable though I suspect quite compressed. 1
Matthew Simon Fletcher
Hi Wookiee - thanks for the feedback I'm not so sure - I don't have great ears for this sort of thing! He certainly was keen to not overdo this when we were discussing things during the preliminary stages, so I'm hoping he stuck to the original plan. treesha
I wish you a wonderful day too, and I enjoyed listening. Its a well put together song, the mix is a bit on the dark side but maybe thats intentional for the mood. Nice you had the opportunity to work with a pro. I'd like to hear the heavier stuff you mention. I like the drums and guitar and changes. Good luck going forward.
Matthew Simon Fletcher
Thanks treesha! Really appreciate it We were trying to strike a balance with the mix - we're a bunch of goths so there was inevitably going to be a bit of a melancholy vibe but we also wanted to make it a bit more accessible / poppy too. With respect to the heavier stuff - I have two other projects. Disconnected Souls is cinematic metal; it does get intense in parts but a lot of it is about conjuring up big atmospheres. In Sϕnder is cyber/electronic metal, designed to be a lot more energetic in general with big synth sounds There are four more tracks coming for Spectral, two of them being a bit more heavier in nature too! Again thanks for your time and interest! Edited Saturday at 09:26 AM by Matthew Simon Fletcher
Bajan Blue
Hi Matthew Really liked the track - great stuff One thing - i just felt the mix was a bit Bass lite - thought it might be my little desk monitors, but I listened to the Disconnected Souls and the In Sϕnder videos (which I REALLY liked by the way) and the Bass was good I thought on both of those. Apart from that, cool stuff Nigel

That's a useful observation - one of the things I wanted in this project was for the bass to stand out a bit more as it's own instrument then just blending with the guitar, but perhaps we need to go further. Some of the upcoming tracks I have sent back mix notes on about this, so it is definitely something on my mind! Hopefully you'll feel the next ones get the balance right Best wishes, ~Fletch~
SUPAREELS
BLIMEY!! . . . Where did this come from ? Great stuff my friend really enjoyed the trip 🫱 Didn't like the mix on Saints, have to agree with Wooks on the compression thingy, to me it seem a little muggy .. but 'my Oh my' the other tracks are really v good. I just love the energy they send .. I can see why Nigel liked them and I must agree .. Well done my friend Steve (SRM)

It's interesting because I feel like the overall mix on Saints is better (and we're working with a higher tier engineer) but having said that it's the first track of that project and sometimes you have to do a few to really get the process and overall sound sorted. I really appreciate the feedback from everyone, which I will take onboard. though and I'm super glad you and others like the other project tracks. Given you enjoyed the other projects here's a few others! (Sorry for spam and no need to listen at all) In Sϕnder has two other releases and we'll hopefully have an EP out by end of year. Those are: DS has three other released vids and another one out next week which I can't wait to share! Busy busy busy! Have a great day all! ~Fletch~ Edited yesterday at 03:47 PM by Matthew Simon Fletcher
treesha
Hi Fletch, thanks for posting your videos ! They are well done and interesting. Some of the things I found interesting are the variety in the vocals, their styles and delivery and moods, the synths and having both male and female singers. The changes in the songs really can switch moods too, like scenes in an opera, but all passionate. I think Dissonant Whispers is my favorite. As far as any suggestions, just one minor one really, the female vocal in the early part of Monachopsis seems like a different space from the rest of the song (I got this comment once ha), and the backing vocals could be a bit thicker and richer when they are used (I love playing with backing vocals so I would just play with them more). They could be more haunting. Good luck with all your projects!
