Change time signature for entire song

Mo Jonez

Question

This is driving me nuts !  I want my project to start at measure 1 in 3/4 time and retain that time signature for the entire song.  There should be a really simple way to do this, but I cannot find it.  I may have made the mistake of changing the time to 3/4 at a certain points in the song thinking I was changing it for the entire song, but looks like it changed only for those measures... so measure 8, and measure 11, and measure 14 all now show as 3/4 but the rest of the song show as 4/4.  Tried to go back to measure 1 and set it to 3/4 hoping it would resent the entire project from measure 1 onward to 3/4, but no such luck.

Appreciate some guidance on what I'm guessing is a very simple step to set the entire song to 3/4.

Thanks musical friends !

Yup.  But does not hold the meter I want 3/4 past the first few bars after that reverts back to 4/4

I've never experienced that behavior before. Perhaps there are other meter/key changes that need to be addressed. Try this; In the main menu select View>Meter/Key. That will open the view that Alt+Shift+6 should open. It is in the Multidock and will show any changes to the key or meter you have made. Select and delete any changes you don't want, if any.

This does not seem to do anything, noting changes, not settings come up nadda.

This should bring up the Meter/Key dialogue box.  This is the default keybinging in Sonar 2025,  CbB and Splat for the Meter/Key dialogue box (maybe some earlier versions too)

What version of Cakewalk are you running?

Are you using a workspace that has hidden the Meter/Key dialogue box?

Have you messed around with keybindings?

Actually it opens the Meter/Key window in Multidock but you have to use the number keys at the top of the keyboard.  The 10-key numbers don't work here - at least mine don't.

You can then open the Meter/Key dialog by double-clicking one of the time sig entries.  A single click on the Control Bar 4/4 screen and clicking thru the top menu Project>Inset Meter/Key Change... also opens it.

If you only want one key sig, delete all the others listed in the Meter/Key view.

If you put the Now Time Line where you want the change to happen, it will automatically be entered in the Meter/Key dialog window.
