UAD Guitar Amp Bundle $99 end today?

Check it out here. Did a quick search and the "Bundle" didn't come up here in the forum, so here goes...

Does anyone have these?

'55 Woodrow, is this a Deluxe or?
Ruby '63 Top Boost Amplifier, obviously an AC-30 TB
Dream '65 Reverb Amplifier, Super Reverb, Twin, Pro? of course all these had the identical pre-amp.
if you look carefully at the "panel" on the amp pictured, it has the "Mid" knobs but they are not included in the sim. interesting...
Lion '68 Super Lead Amplifier, Its a "Plexi" era Marshall, duh! Includes a Super Bass and "Brown" model (what?  Eddie couldn't define "brown")

I thought this deal went on 'til the end of May, but today's email says today is the end of "Guitar Deals".
There are some other "Guitar" based deals (YAWN), BFD...

A couple of interesting reviews:
one 3 Star; "but the '65 is just a load of mush"
one 4 Star;  "Sound Amazing, but heavy on CPU"

Looking for some feedback, I really need these? (why am I asking you, none of us "need" another amp sim; I mean really?)

I really like them personally, ignoring the subjectiveness of sound.  For me, from a creative perspective, it feels much more of a one-to-one relationship having specific setups within their own plugins and therefore simulates a more traditional setup.

Because of the limited options within each plugin, I find myself more precisely using them than I would a plugin that has a ton of pedals and amp/cab combinations where I find myself scanning across various setups and suffer with choice paralysis.  I think staying within that amp environment also gets your ears more trained to the sounds and finer adjustments as you can hear the nuances better.

It's very subjective though, I think they sound great and play really nice.  Not played with Woodrow too much yet.

The only other guitar plugins I have are all suites like Amplitube, Guitar Rig & Helix.  So i'd likely have a different perspective to someone who's used more standalone options like this.

If you have Tonex, $100 would be much better spent on some Amalgam Audio captures in my experience.  

The UAD plugins are ok, but not worth that given TONEX.  

Amalgam has real captures of these types of amps.  Vintage tweed deluxe, ac30, multiple plexi (rex DI is my favorite, super lead, super bass), deluxe reverb, super reverb, etc and plenty of other options to make your own pack instead of being stuck with the UAD choices that are also just simulations.

Of course YMMV but also having the option to have Tonex in a pedal format dwarfs the UAD usefulness.  In fact, one of my Tonex one purchases wasn't for much more than that $100 price tag.

I agree with Brian that you'll probably get more for your money with Amalgam if you already have ToneX and use the coupons (I always do the 3for2; I'm not sure if they're permanently active).

With that said, $99 is a great price for the UAD bundle. At that price, there's not much difference in price compared to buying them as captures but you get a nicer (IMO) GUI to work with and a quicker and more intuitive (albeit more limited) workflow.

FWIW, I think the UAD AC30 and Dream (which is a Deluxe Reverb) are really top notch. They're not necessarily my favourite amp sims ever, but they're probably my favourites of their type, e.g., even though I have the Amalgam BFDR and AC30 captures, I think I prefer the UAD equivalents. The UAD and Amalgam BFDRs can be made to sound nearly identical, and they both sound uncannily like the real 60 year-old amp I have sitting in my music room (and my room/recording abilities mean the real thing doesn't sound as good when I record it). 

The Lion is also great; I haven't spent much time with the Tweed so far and it hasn't wowed me.

As I mentioned in the TotalMax thread, I really like the new Amalgam Brownface captures. I've not been disappointed with any of the Amalgam captures, though - they're just different flavours of 'excellent.'

Amalgam has 5 for 3 and 10 for 5 bundles.  

10 for 5 would be a a bit over $100, so getting 10 capture packs is a lot if you grab the "right" packs.  But even 5 selects would cover a ton of ground

- Trainwreck Express

- ODS 100 (DI)

- Marshall REX (DI)

-Plus two others depending on taste / needs

The Amalgam REX offers an Amalgam created Marshall pre rolls cab IR at no additional cost.   But I also use some Tone Junkie AiIRs including similar Marshalls with PreRolla 30s if I want different mic and tonal options.  I have others as well such as the ML sound lab Pre Rolla 30s packs and the 70s Giants pack that can work 

The Wreck is a Trainwreck NOS JM built one (so it is under licence by Trainwreck using Kennys notes and original era parts.  I've played 5 Kenny era Wrecks (all 3 models) and for an Express capture I think it sounds and responds about as good as I'd expect for a digital simulation.  This isn't like the Tone Junkie Express 60 which wasn't a core Kenny design.  While this Amalgam one wasn't made by Kenny directly, it also isn't some random knock off or from the lower cost modern parts option.  

The Express is my least favorite Wreck model, but even so it is still special compared to other amps.

(I will eventually hep release a Ken Fischer made Rocket pack, captures are done...so I have some experience with how they can sound and feel)
