Mad Musicologist
Hi all, Which synth would you recommend if I wish to use a Theremin-like sound, please? The sound, a clean sine wave, should be easily found. But I do not seem to find a good way to have the portamento. I tried out Z3TA+2, Vacuum Pro (which gives a very low output, I almost can't hear anything), Cakewalk Sound Center... Or is it none of them and I'd need another plugin, please? (If so, which one?) Thankx! Edited April 2 by Mad Musicologist
mettelus
Have you tried any VSTs that are focused specifically on Theremin? I did a quick search for that and #1 on this list might be a good candidate (and is free).

Amberwolf
Long ago when I wanted a theremin sound, I used Mysteron by FxPansion. I had a touch screen monitor back then, which made it pretty fun to mess around with. But you could also use a joystick-to-MIDI adapter and "driver" program like this https://www.fergonez.net/softwares/fjoymidi or others easily found in a websearch. Or a joystick-to-mousepointer program like this https://www.imgpresents.com/joy2mse/j2m.htm

I had to do some deadline work, but here I am again, and I must say, this is amazing! Thank you so much!
Mad Musicologist
Thanks, all for your helpful replies. I checked - and I love that Spook Keys thing, although it is 20 years old (but works fine on my Win 11, 24H2 machine)!
