Just note that these won't be updated in the future.  I shy away from freebies just for freebie sake that are end-of-life.

VR Pro 2 was released literally a year ago, hardly a long in the tooth offer.  VSTs can run properly for decades as long as it wasn't encoded with bugs not needing a single update.

Just mentioning it.  Mac users usually have more issues than Windows.

Dear Reality products will no longer be developed or maintained, and their licenses will be deactivated on July 31, 2025.

We will make most Dear Reality plugins available free of charge here. They can be downloaded and used without restriction upon registration for the Sennheiser AMBEO newsletter.

This thread is confusing....if the licenses will be deactivated so soon, what would be the point of having them at all?

(that phrase usually means that software is designed to phone home and then stops working, in my previous experience).

The current activations will stop working, so you need to install the non activation required new version is my understanding. Then they will work indefinitely, but won't receive any future updates.

Thanks for that. Similar happened with RiffStation when they released it to everyone. The activation servers went offline, so the purchased version couldn't be activated, only the free (unlocked) one. Luckily I had downloaded two copies of the free version "just in case" but didn't realize I needed them till I loaded up this machine... it is a difficult app to find now, but the paid version can no longer be activated.

VR Music was not in the download

From the main info page (linked by BTP above), in the list of product descriptions:

Quote

dearVR MUSIC will remain usable for owners through Plugin Alliance (and doesn't need new version)

Edited to add:

Also, in case anyone's interested:

It's not listed, but at least when I downloaded the set yesterday, DearVR MONITOR is included, along with the others described on the page.

There are seemingly multiple downloads and some don't contain MONITOR.

Interesting.

They may have made a mistake in including MONITOR in the archive -- but does that mean those who got it were lucky, or that it won't work once the license servers are shut off?

I went back to my email from AMBEO and re-downloaded the archive. The email lists it as 3.1GB, which matched the size of my original download. The new file is 2.8GB and MONITOR is indeed missing.

I thought that these versions are DRM free so can't be shut off?

I own MONITOR so glad to have it in the download.
I think I also have individual links for the two that I own.

Right, the new versions being made available are DRM free.

What's unclear is whether MONITOR was intended to be among the programs offered in the current set. So far as I know, it hasn't been listed on the AMBEO site or emails as being included. So it's difficult to be sure at the moment what the situation is with it, particularly since it was quietly removed from the archive zip made available.

I own Monitor and Pro and I think I had direct individual links for Monitor and Pro 2 in an email.

I will check those tomorrow as I only downloaded the archive with Monitor.

On the other hand, you won't have an update cause the plugin to not be found in project and losing its settings in the process.
Can't tell you how many times I've had that happen.

A significant number of the plugins in any of our collections are past EOL but we don't know it as it is often never announced.
If the economy goes south at some point that number may jump up significantly as many developers go under.

I am trying (note italics) to get in the habit of always bouncing any tracks involving plugins before closing/saving a project.
That way if the next time I reopen a project and a plugin fails to load I have the option to fall back and use the bounced track as either a reference or a replacement.
