altoricky
Hi there CbB experts, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Up until a couple of days ago, with the Smart tool selected, if I clicked and held on a note in Piano Roll View a small dialogue would appear showing (if I remember correctly) the Note name, its position in the bar and its velocity. The same was true if I clicked and held on a velocity bar in the Velocity pane. This has suddenly stopped happening. I am running CbB version 2024.12 64-bit on Windows 10. If anyone can tell me how to get this back I'd be grateful. Thanks Richard

If you have the "Smart" tool selected, then all the notes you specified appear when you double-click on the note itself, they did not appear as a pop-up hint before. altoricky
OK, I've worked it out. This pic shows what I mean. The red rectangle shows the data displayed when I click and hold on a note. The mouse cursor doesn't appear in the screen capture for some reason. It seems that it's down to whether or not Cakewalk is running as administrator. I use Sound Forge as an audio editing tool from within Cakewalk. It appears under the Utilities menu in the main window. Unfortunately SoundForge will only launch if Cakewalk is running as administrator, so I've set my desktop shortcut for Cakewalk to run as administrator. When I run Cakewalk from the desktop shortcut I don't get the data display. If I run Cakewalk by double clicking on a .cwp file, Cakewalk doesn't run as administrator and I do get the data display. Another thing Cakewalk won't do when running as administrator is allow you to drag and drop files from a windows folder onto Track View. So, problem solved. sjoens
Weird. I get the tooltip even when running as administrator. There's a setting in Preferences to turn Tooltips on or off but it has no affect on PRV note tooltips here. BTW, cursors don't appear in Windows screen captures but a 3rd party app may work for that. sjoens
I know you marked this as solved but running Cakewalk as admin should not affect tooltips that way. My guess is something else is going on.
altoricky
I'm sure you're right, but I don't have the time or inclination at the moment to track it down. I have an easy workaround which allows me to get on with the project I'm working on, so that's good enough for the time being.
