SONAR X3 PRV

I'm still using Sonar X3, and I've been working on a lot of music with Cakewalk Sonar for a long time now. There are three things that bother me.

1) The fact that the control data keeps getting stuck on the mouse pointer when using the smart tool is driving me crazy. I hope this new version will stop the sticking when holding down the Alt key like in Cubase.

2) Also, I don't understand why the control data should be affected by 'Snap On'. Control data doesn't need to be aligned to the beat grid like notes.

3) The new version doesn't allow you to blur the color of the beat grid in the piano roll view. It's annoying because the note grid and beat grid can't be distinguished.

I know that you mentioned. But I love it still.  Even though I feel like I'm living in Robinson Crusoe in 2000, I can't abandon the comfort of the X3.

Sometimes we have to move outside our comfort zone.

You do Realise that X3 became SONAR Platinum, which after having the IP sold, became Cakewalk by Bandlab which has matured into Cakewalk Sonar.

Which to simplify it,  means they are all built on the same code base, or put another way Cakewalk Sonar is just an updated version of X3, probably exactly where X3 would have ended up if Gibson hadn't had their little hissy fit in November of 2017, and did what they did so many time before to software they acquired.

The big difference is it now appears to be owned by an owner and a company that cares, rather than a company who really didn't.

1)  This isn't Cubase.  Just left-click and drag mouse to draw freehand nodes.
Alt key is for creating one node.  Hold mouse in one place and left-click.
Moving the mouse when holding Alt key lets you float the controller until you find the right place for it.  That's why it "sticks".
Holding Shift invokes Line tool and allows you to move the mouse to the right position while creating a perfect straight line of nodes.

2)  Snap can be turned off if you don't want it.  Snap resolution determines how many nodes fill the space.  No snap allows maximum nodes to fill the space but many times all those nodes aren't necessary.

3)  This is true and a bit of a travesty ATM, but may be fixed in the future.
