Sonar 2025.02 Feedback

Sending an empty template is meaningless, whilst it may contain some information the additional data from recordings may, help. It is your choice, I am just trying to get you some help, if you don't want to follow my suggestions that is your decision.

I am grateful to you for your help, but I already said - in any (!) project, the same thing happens to me - the buttons in ProChannel are not displayed as enabled, it does not depend on the number of tracks, or the number of instruments or processing. I can send any project, but I just thought - if everything is exactly the same in an empty project, is it easier to send an empty one? That's why I asked you - does it make sense?

I've never had such bugs, but there are a couple of unexplained bugs with the absence of text (name of modules) in the menu for adding modules in ProChannel, and in the pop-up hint field near the cursor on the "automatisms" line, I already wrote about these bugs here. But all the other functionality in Sonar/Cakewalk works completely normally and reliably, and in the latest build, this strange thing appeared. I checked the setting you specified - I had this option disabled, I tried to enable it, checked - the same thing, then disabled it again - nothing changed again.
Do I understand correctly that most users do not have this (as in my GIF) in the latest version of Sonar?

Prochannel buttons show up enabled in the Console View as expected here.

Then it's really strange... I could assume that the reason for such anomalies could be that I don't have a discrete graphics card, but in the previous version of Sonar, this didn't happen, although absolutely everything remained the same - the system, monitor settings, drivers, plugins, etc. I am becoming increasingly convinced that the new iteration of Sonar is extremely sensitive to any (!) system elements, drivers, and third-party programs installed in the system, which seems very counterproductive to me. Or I can only think that this all happens because of working in Windows 10, and most have already switched to Windows 11, where such anomalies do not occur, no other logical conclusions can be drawn.

Not sure what you have going on, but everything's good here on both my Win 11 laptop with onboard Intel graphics and my Win10 desktop with Nvidia. Are you sure it's not project-specific and maybe plugin-related?

I don't know how else to explain that in a completely empty clean project without a single plugin or instrument, when opening the mixer, the "ON" buttons on ProChannel are not displayed as enabled. I specifically created an empty clean project without any instruments or plugins in the "VSTi" rack, in which the same thing happens. This is the same for a project with a single MIDI track, with 10 MIDI tracks, with 1 or 10 audio tracks, and with combined MIDI and audio tracks. The same thing happens in all other projects, and when activating the "FX" and "PDC" buttons, which completely excludes a software or hardware connection for this phenomenon.
I'll just repeat once again: in the previous version of Sonar, under the same conditions, with the same system elements, programs, drivers and everything else, the buttons on ProChannel were displayed completely normally.

Today is one of the happiest dates in recent years - with the release of this update, I can fully work in my favorite DAW, which I rightfully considered and consider the best workstation of all existing ones!
I don't know exactly who to thank, but I want to express my endless gratitude to those developers who took into account my comments regarding graphic bugs in ProChannel and some other sections, HUGE THANKS to the entire Cakewalk team!     🙏

The developers are very cooperative and if you have any issues you should contact them directly. 
I find they get back to me quickly and usually ask for more information or screenshots and stuff. 
I think it is still a priority for them to make sure Sonar has zero issues. They most certainly have taken my problems seriously. 
 

But it’s difficult when you are the one in a million that has the problem to solve it. 
 

Example put your hand up if you’re having crashes on opening and find out those projects on loading show “untitled EQ” untitled CA2A “ etc Once open any audio tracks that had pro channel module active the pro channel is totally blank included no EQ which is actually impossible. 
See - no one else right? But they are taking it seriously and hopefully together we can figure out why this is happening and only on certain projects that are made before a certain time. 
 

But before you share your issues here please submit a report to the support team. This is of benefit to everyone who loves this Daw.

I installed the latest patch update just today but, as I previously reported, the problem persists. Every animation and command on the screen freezes graphically even with this latest update. The behavior remains the same: every program function and animation freezes graphically, but the audio continues to play as if the software hadn't actually frozen. In fact, the processSonar.exedoes not appear to be blocked, but in reality, Cakewalk is, and I cannot control any function. Additionally, after a while, it encounters an error and generates the usual DMP file. 

I also tried creating a new project with Spectrasonics Keyscape and a loaded piano sound, and I have the same behavior. I want to clarify that in the other projects, I didn't even use Keyscape, and before the February update, Cakewalk worked wonderfully.

You need to report this properly to support@cakewalk.com with a sample project and full specification of you PC. Reporting it here can't guarantee support will see it quickly.

ok yes updated this morning.

The piano roll stuff seems totally fixed now so far. Best its worked in months.

So great.

I hate to complain but there is a new problem.  Unrelated. Another thing I do very often is I hold CTRL and move a clip creating a copy of it. I do this a lot putting together songs.  So I started messing with current project. Piano roll not effecting anything so far. Seems fixed. But when I CTRL click and drag a clip creating a copy when I drop it the track view expands and drops the clip into track that I move it to but stretches the entire song. Every track and moves everything over creating room for new clip. Before creating a copy this way didn't do this. It just dropped clip copy where I drag it to with no effect to the rest of the tracks. I actually see where this would be handy when I am trying to add a clip and stretch the song. I wouldn't have to move everything over to create room. But 95% of the time I only want to CTRL drag copy clip to another spot. I don't want to spread song to add it. Would totally mess me up. I would have to go back and move every track back to its original position.  And worse I noticed if I drag it to the middle of other tracks it even splits those clips already there in every track. This is terrible. I hope this is something in  the settings I can get switched back to the way it always was and not something I would have to wait on another patch to fix. I am looking in preferences but don't see where I can revert that back to the old way. When I CTRL drag a clip to copy it I don't want it to effect the rest of tracks any. No splitting and stretching song.

Would ruin my productivity.

To explain further I tried to click on a track. hit CTRL C to copy it. then clicked in another area and clicked CTRL V to make a copy. When it dropping the clip copy into track it also once again stretched the song to include the clip. This is terrible. Just very frustrating. How am I supposed to copy tracks and put them in song if It spreads song out around clip copy.  No way to get anything done like this. IS there anything in preferences that has been turned on with new patch that would cause this?

I must get this fixed immediately. This would slow me down just as much as the piano roll issue that was just fixed.

Ok I have messed with sonar some more. Also now when I click on any track and move it it moves every other track in whole project. Like all the clips are in a group. What in the heck is going on. Im not talking about CTRL drag. Its messed up too but just regular click and drag moves all tracks over.   How do I get this off?
