C T
On my old PC with the same version of Cakewalk, I used to be able to just right click the midi track here circled in red, and in this drop down menu, an option to "Replace Synth for All Tracks Using This Synth..." would appear. This MIDI icon on the track would also have a square outline instead of a flat icon. I don't know how to bring this option back. Also please don't suggest me to use the synth rack view to replace it. The place this option would be listed is shown below: Edited Friday at 12:57 PM by C T

Interesting. I never tried changing a synth en masse like that on a MIDI Track since the "Replace Synth . . . " options were added a couple of years ago. Since then I have replaced synths many times but by changing an Instrument Track. BTW, I only use the Synth Rack View on special occasions myself and rarely have it showing in my custom Workspaces. So I can understand that not being a preferred solution. Do you have more than one MIDI Track pointed to the same synth in your example? If not, do you get the "Replace Synth for All Tracks Using This Synth" option when you add another MIDI track pointed to the same synth? Out of curiosity, what version of Cakewalk do you have on your old and new computer? C T
The version is the exact same being the latest version. I used to just be able to right click and replace synth option for the two tracks but now I have to keep adding a third track.
C T
Additionally, the midi (exported from Musescore 4) no longer has a pre added piano from Cakewalk. I used to be able to hear it play with some built in Cakewalk instruments but now they're just Midi and I need to manually add an instrument before I can hear anything

TTS-1 is no longer available, per Roland's request.

sjoens
Check the track output. This is normal when no softsynth is selected for that MIDI track. I'm not seeing a softsynth in your screenshot. If there were it should at least work if you right click on the softsynth's track icon instead. BTW, this option isn't available for outboard synths. Maybe the dialog should read "Replace Softsynth..." instead. Edited Friday at 08:07 PM by sjoens
User 905133
Just to let you know, it wasn't until I saw @57Gregy's "See your other thread." reply that I knew for sure you were talking about the product known as Cakewalk by Bandlab. I had a suspicion it wasn't Cakewalk Sonar, so I asked what version of Cakewalk you were using. "The version is the exact same being the latest version" didn't help. FYI: If you are interested in Cakewalk Sonar, you can find it here. If you want to try it out (no saving or exporting), scroll to the bottom to the Download link. Kurre
I recommend the use of selecting tracks by dragging over the track numbers, the midi ones, and holding CTRL while opening, the output menu to select the general midi vsti of choice. That puts the vsti on all of the miditracks. It's a workflow that helps me quite often. Edited yesterday at 06:27 AM by Kurre
