Yeah I remember doing some editing and saw that and clicked on it not knowing what I had just done...haha!!!

Just about the most important thing to remember in Cakewalk/Sonar, "turn off ripple edit when you're through doing your edit".

Lots of software has ripple edit. It is up to the user to be aware that it is active or inactive.
You only screw up twice.  Once is not enough for it to really sink in.

At least it is on the main view. Other software I use its just a ticked box on a menu that you need to remember what menu!

In the good 'ole theming days you could at least repaint it bright red...

I guess if you never change the layout of the screen you could put a bit of highlighting tape over that part of it... to remind you where it is, even if it doesnt' tell you if it's active or not. ;)

If someone that knows how (not me) really got bored they could design a little RPi camera to keep an eye on that part of the monitor and detect whether that control was in it's active state or not, and have it turn a little laser pointer on that is fixed to shine on that spot on the screen. 😆

That and auto punch in!
Sonar is not the only Daw with microscopic icons. They have all gone this way. I bought a special pair of glasses just for editing on my computer. It was cheaper than a 40” 4K monitor .
