4th Eden
I really need to rollback to the previous version . I just updated to the December release and now CbB crashes constanlty. It was fine before the update. Any links to previous version please?

pwallie
could be a feature request - rollback to last version, or the updater makes a system restore point, a lot easier than messing about with VC Redist versions (which could impact other apps)

That is very likely the reason a roll back installer for CbB is not provided.
Terry Kelley Posted yesterday at 11:42 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:42 AM I've kept all of the versions over the last few years since CbB started. Are there any versions that don't need to activate? You know, I should check.

Noel Borthwick
Rolling back is not going to solve anything if the problem is external. If you post a crash dump file we can tell you why its crashing.
Sock Monkey
Something has happened with a Windows update? That is causing crashes in both Cakewalk and Sonar. I submitted a dump file few days ago and the reply was as @David Baay posted above. They sent me a link and it took all of 3 minutes to download and install. Painless. And not sure why @Noel Borthwick didn’t mention this in his reply but I am pretty sure all old versions of Cakewalk required activation. The older ones might only time out after 6 months?? David Baay
25 minutes ago, Sock Monkey said: The older ones might only time out after 6 months?? I would wager the timeout period is determined by the activation server so it can't be hacked on the client side. Versions available when the timeout was longer used a different activation architecture and server and can't activate against the current server at all. That's why an update was forced in the first place.
paulo
FWIW The previous version is more unstable for me than it was in whatever version came before that and probably more so than ever before. Just random problems here and there - a few times it's just closed with no warning, then it won't restart which seems to be because in the task manager processes window it's still there even though it's not on screen and doesn't appear in the running apps window. Killing it in the processes window allows me to open it again. I don't recall ever seeing this happen prior to that version.

But it seems that a few people have claimed that they are still using older versions? Possibly BS?

For the benefit of those down under, that’s around September/October 2023.
