safe to use symbols in file names?

Windows 10 - When saving VST Presets in Cakewalk, Is it ok to use the "+" symbol in file names?
e.g.
Piano + Cello.
Guitar + Strings + Kontakt 6 Synth.

The answer rather depends to whom and how you choose to distribute your files. Many special characters can be incorrectly parsed by browsers, so as a general rule I would say that if sharing content online, special characters are best avoided.

That said - for local and personal file storage - you'll encounter fewer problems if you include them as part of your chosen file naming convention but it's still considered bad practice to use them.
