Very frustrated with the new Sonar

jkoseattle

Question

Since I "upgraded" from CbB to the new Sonar, I've had nothing but troubles and very little improvement.

Most of my keyboard shortcuts are gone. I am not talking about the ones I created. Those I exported from CbB with a .kbn file and imported them and they work. I'm talking about what I thought were Cakewalk defaults. Ctrl-Shift-T from Transpose, Ctrl-Shift-B for Bounce to Clip. If they were custom, they would have imported in my .kbn. What's going on?

Committing my arrangement to the project invariably leaves random sections out completely. I discovered this too late, and almost lost a lot of material. Using History I managed to revert to before I committed the arrangement, but so much work had been done since that I didn't want to lose, so I Saved a Copy As, thinking I would paste content I had almost lost to the newer project. Only then to discover that...

Sonar only seems to be able to open a single project at a time. How can I copy notes from one project to another?

It's just been on and on with Sonar frustrations. Am I the only one? Someone help please.

This is optional, and disabled by default I thought:

Preferences > File > Advanced > Allow Only One Open Project at a Time

EDIT:

Ctrl+Shift+T is Insert MIDI Track and has been for long time so far as I can tell though I never used it.

Ctrl+Shift+B is Maximize/Restore Tabed View which is pretty much the same as Shift+D to maximize the multidock.

I'm not aware that there were ever default bindings for Bounce to Clip(s) or Transpose.

You do realize you are in the old obsolete Cakewalk by Bandlab forum not the Brand new shiny Sonar forum.

There where a lot of changes made, It's new so little hidden gems. It's still easier than learning a new Daw. Trust me.

And you must have noticed how fast everything now is? Use it for a couple weeks and then try and use Cakewalk you'll see what I mean.

By default in both CbB & Sonar, CTRL+Shift+T adds a MIDI Track;  CTRL+Shift+B minimises / maximises the tab view

My suspicion is you're either using a Workspace that is stopping those functions being available, or something else is stopping the .kbn file from being imported. Before you import the .kbn file, make sure your workspace is set to "None" and you've got a project loaded (use something like the "Basic" template).

You mentioned this in another thread.  You need to send us your project for us to investigate.  Upload it to a file sharing service (e.g. OneDrive, Dropbox etc) and PM me the link.

As @David Baay says, uncheck Preferences -> File -> Advanced -> Allow Only One Open Project at a Time.
