Cannimagine
Does anyone know of a program to figure out the chords being played in a song? I am a drummer who can play some chords on guitar, and I wrote songs with a friend who played Keys. We recorded a lot of these tunes on a high-speed 4-track cassette recorder, and some were copied at normal speed. I am recording the audio into Cakewalk and want to try to re-record some of the songs. I have a spark amp that will do this but these files are my own and not on Spotify. Can Sonar play high-speed audio tracks at normal speed somehow? Thanks In advance everyone. I bit the bullet and paid an annual payment for the new Sonar so far so good. I'm waiting for new Sonar toys (instruments and effects) to come out like they used to with the upgrades.

Using your title as a google search finds some potential solutions. https://www.google.com/search?q=AI+chord+analysis+in+songs Edited December 13 by Amberwolf
Amberwolf
1 hour ago, Cannimagine said: Can Sonar play high-speed audio tracks at normal speed somehow? Sure. Were they simply recorded at twice the normal rate? If so, then they will play back at half the normal rate if you are using a normal cassette to play them back (instead of the original device). Once recorded in, then change the clip properties to "looping" and then change the number of beats in the clip to half the number it shows. That will cause it to playback at twice the rate it was recorded at. Alternately, if it isn't a simple 0.5x or 2x rate change, you can instead hold the CTRL key and click-drag on the end of the clip to stretch/compress it in time; it should show the percentage as it is changed. There are other methods as well, such as clicking on the clip and pressing CTRL-L (if this is bound to Loop toggle in your Sonar) or otherwise turning looping on for that clip, and then change the tempo for the project until the clip plays at the speed you want. All the methods above are undoable; if you want to make them permanent you simply select the clip and bounce it to a new clip. mettelus
There was a very handy program called RiffStation that was a paid for app, then when they stopped development, the final version (v1.6.3) was unlocked for everyone (c. 2018). Unfortunately, although it was made free to anyone it is not so easy to find anymore (the original RiffStation site is gone). I just checked for it, and the copy on this site seems to be valid. I downloaded it, but did not install it from there. It will open audio files, read the chords and tempo quickly, and also allows you to adjust playback speed and zoom in on audio you want to focus (audio microscope). There are videos of that app roughly 10 years old now that show how to use it if interested (it is actually simple to use). Quick Edit: This is a thread from the Deals forum in 2022 discussing the app (4 minute video in that thread). They are using the same download link I posted above for it. 57Gregy
Or find someone with a 4-track cassette deck that records/plays back at 2x speed and have them render it for you.
Terry Kelley
I still have two Sansui 6 track cassettes and mixer. Does that count?
57Gregy
I have a TASCAM 414.
Sock Monkey
Tascam 238. 8 track cassette! Prior to that a Yamaha 4 track. Both used double speed. No way to get tracks off of those on a standard cassette because even if you slowed down and reversed tracks 3 and 4 the tracks bleed into each other etc. You can tell I tried! But now we have stem separation so you can pull your tracks from the masters. Crappie quality but if you just made minor tweaks to the mix it can work. Back to the OP as far as extraction of chords one trick Sonar can do is if there’s a Bass track insert SI Bass and drag the bass track there. This will convert the bass track to midi and in PVR you can select show notes. His will at least give you root notes. It’s not clear how you are transferring the tapes? Do you have the original 4 track?
