Sock Monkey
Sorry I didn't realize they had gotten so ***** about other Daw's, we used to be able to talk freely. I deleted the content which was about a few daws that are on sale for cheap like are on sale. PM if interested. dubdisciple
I think it's different now that they are trying to sell DAWs instead of supporting a free one. If it were me, I would those as opportunities to sell us on Bandlab offerings that compete favorably. Cakewalks's base has been very loyal to product despite being able to discuss other products . Cakewalk used to be good about having staff interact with forum to find solutions to features offered in competing products. It's their forum, so I still appreciate them offering it at a time when other forums are closing or only offering to subscribers
Magic Russ
If they ever bring back plugins that would effectively kill this particular subforum.
MusicMan
I get their point, but I think they may have shot themselves in the foot a little. Especially in the deals section. It was a thriving forum, where people were discussing all different DAWs and sales and that brought up a lot of recommendations for their products, which to an extent would've kept on carrying over to their new paid offerings. Less visitors to this section now due to their policy means lots of missed opportunities and less discussions and awareness about their new products and helping people understand their offerings which aren't the most clear for those less familiar.
Paul Young
I find it interesting that when some developers create a new version after Sept. you don't see a BF deal. One developer didn't need to so it since their upgrade price is a great deal to begin with. That's the Yamaha boys who still have a great upgrade price. I do hope in a few years Sonar will not be sub only. I collect DAWs and I'd add it to my collection. I'll assume most of their new users are not in North America. I guess there are still users using their older paid versions of Sonar.
Sock Monkey Posted yesterday at 01:33 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 01:33 AM (edited) It’s understandable but I have a feeling this is a personal choice of the moderator and might not be a company decision. I bought both. One was $49 and is a real good choice. Both these companies have been around since day one. Still owned by the developers and not some conglomerate corporations. My dream would be that Noel takes over control of the software somehow someday that would solve all our issues. I think that very freedom is what helped keep people loyal. Forced loyalty is just oppression and pushes people away (The song "Hold On Loosely" comes to mind). You can tell the moderator(s) are now trying to walk that line. I just hope they dont self sabotage by gripping too tightly. I'll gladly use an inferior daw if that happens. Cause they can take my Cakewalk but they'll never take... MY FREEDOM!!!!!!! 🗡️ (Oorah! 🇺🇸) 1
