sjoens Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 (edited) Today I am reinstalling all Sonar apps from SHS7 to CbB on my Windows 10 system. Windows just ran an update before this. For some reason when I select only Dimension LE DXi to be installed, it installs the VSTi instead. It was previously installed on this system with no issues so what's happening now? Edit: Senior moment! Edited November 23, 2024 by sjoens
Max Arwood Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 DXi s are kind of hidden did you look for it too in the plugin manager?
sjoens Posted November 23, 2024 Author Posted November 23, 2024 (edited) Yeah I found it. Was confused by the installer. I expected it to go in Cakewalk\Shared Dxi but the 32 bit dll goes in Cakewalk\Dimension LE and the VSTi goes in Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Dimension LE. Oddly a different installation for the 64 bit DXi goes in C:\Shared DXi\Dimension LE, so they're all over the place. Even more odd is Home Studio 7 has v1.3 2008 while Sonar 8 SE has the older v1.2 2007. Both Sonars were released the same time in 2008. I bought them both in 2009 about 3 months apart. What this means is when I run the Sonar 8 installer for the VSTi it overwrites the Home Studio Dimension LE with an older version. If I'd known this I could have deselected it during install. sjoens Posted November 23, 2024 Author Posted November 23, 2024 (edited) Just found the 64 bit Sonar 8 installation process for Dimension is broken. It installs the Multisamples but not Dimension. And if I change the target folder it puts the samples in the default folder anyway. There's a fix for v1.2 on the Knowledge Base site but even it's problematic. A better fix is Dimension 1.5 update Edited November 23, 2024 by sjoens 1
