Skyline_UK
I used to know how to do this, I'm configuring my first new PC in nine years and can't remember how I did it way back! I have a 'drum map' (file extension .map) for RealGuitar. I want to be able to right click on the keyboard in PRV view for the track where I'm using it and 'Use these note names' for the keys. That's what I used to be able to do. But the items in that list are from .ins files not .map ones and I can't remember how to get RealGuitar data into there as an option. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? (I'm sure it will all come flooding back to me then!) Thanks. John
scook
The note names are read from %appdata%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\master.ins This is a text file and may be modified using any text editor. Make a copy of the file before editing just in case. Two sections need to be updated .Note Names and .Instrument Definitions .Note Names contains the actual MIDI note value to name mapping and starts with the name of the mapping in brackets like [RealGuitar] 0=some text to show for MIDI note 0 1=some text to show for MIDI note 1 ... 128=some text to show for MIDI note 128 The .Instrument Definitions should look something like this [RG] Patch[*]=1..128 Key[*,*]=RealGuitar The value for Key[*,*] must be the name in brackets from the .Note Names section.
Heinz Hupfer
Hi? @scook I know there's an app, that can make a "map" file Out of an "ins" file! Do you know any possibility to do the opposite? Making an instrument file from a map? Don't know the Syntax of a map file but it should be possible in any way..... Thanks? Bassman
