Like the arranger, or Xsampler. The distinction is important: Xsampler being a plugin instrument ( exclusive to Sonar ) is the actual cause of the compatibility issue, not just a feature or tool that might be missing. Part of your project would be missing unless you rendered the Xsampler track to audio in Sonar before opening it in CbB or earlier. This is different from losing features like the Arranger track, which doesn’t affect the sound, but rather the organization and workflow within the project. The main benefit is although it's a plugin, it's much more embedded into the core App than a 3rd party plugin can be. i.e. it can be instantiated from context sensitve menus etc which enhances functionality of the DAW. It's a good start, hopefully it can made more feature rich over time. Edited November 8 by Mark Morgon-Shaw

Again if it is a new functionality then it will not be available simples. I didn't say the project would be complete. It would be like opening a project from a "friend" but you don't have one of the instrument plugins he/she/it/they/them uses. Exactly the same issue. Not exactly the same as you could accquire said plugin yourelf to ensure full opening of the project. You can get hold of Xsampler and use it in any other DAW so it needs to be bounced first. If you no longer have access CW Sonar because you stopped your membership subscription then you'd be stuck.

It is just a just a VST instrument, but is not in the standard VST directories because it is locked for use only in Cakewalk Sonar. I believe it is in the Shared internals directory. Incorrect read my reply above. And Incorrect if you didn't have the plugin nor the resources to obtain the same plugin it is the same problem As you note solution bounce the track to audio. The other question is why are you opening it in older versions, when you know the older version doesn't have x-sampler?
Wookiee
1 minute ago, Mark Morgon-Shaw said: IDK for sure but it seems more like this Again nothing hacked about the Pro channel modules all genuine VST's locked to Sonar, they to are in the shared internals/pro channels directory. Simples.
