my tune Stand By My Side. Need mix suggestion(s)

Hi folks.

This is the first time I am posting something here. A new tune I was working on past couple of weeks. Music is my hobby, not aiming for anything remotely professional. For me it always bit of a challenge, to compose, arrange, record etc., when you do it all by yourself switching from one process to another. I am sure some of you know the feeling. When I am finished with structure,  my ears are too tired and I just don't hear it well enough to mix right...  I've listened to some very well crafted tunes here, so I was wondering if a side listener can spot some obvious mistake(s) in the mix. I take critique very well. As one music friend said "I got a skin of a snow tire". Thank you in advance.

Hi Misha - I like the track it's very good and welcome to the forum!

As you say the mix needs a little attention - i think perhaps its the bass and drums that might be a little loud - so i would get them sorted first, make sure they are centrally panned, then drop all the other instruments into the mix so they all have their own space with the vocals panned centrally so they are clear.

As I said, great song

Cool stuff

That's a cool song. I think it needs some mix help though. It seems like a lot of the same frequencies fighting with each other in the middle , the vocals the guitar, not sure what it all is. I think it could use more bottom end and try to create a space for each instrument and vocal. Sometimes I find a little panning can separate things too.

Thanks all for comments & suggestions!  I guess one of the issue that I am having difficulty with is that my vocals are muddy (by nature:) ) and they get tangled in with many other instruments.  I will give it another vocal try and will try to address frequency space for each instrument and harder guitar panning. Thanks again!

I liked this more every time I heard it. I took it to my daw pc and messed with it a bit and to my ears just taking between 3 to 4 db off the drums instantly improved it. I also brought the vocal up slightly and backed of the bass a smidge too and I thought just those very crude adjustments helped. If I could have panned the guitars away from the vocal more I think it would have been most of the way there.
