Ok, got it working now. It is a phantastic instrument. Very different colors available.

But I also had to do the registry trick.

Now there  has been another very nice instrument in Sonar X3 studio, that was the "dreamstation". Alas, only in 32 bit.

How I wish they'd  give that a rebirth in 64 bit version. It was a very handy application with a lot of modulation and filtering options.

I got Dreamstation working in CbB with the help of dxishell.  Google it if you don't know about it.  I thought I wasn't going to be able to make it work, but the trick was only to put the 32-bit dxishell file in the VST folder, not both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

Finding a way to run 32 bit Dxi in the Cakewalk. That's great! ?

I know this is an old topic, but in case people are still interested in Pentagon and want to avoid the "problematic" patches -- i.e., those that use the "Valleys" simulator setting -- I created a modified presets file that turns the simulator Off for these patches. You can just replace all the stock Pentagon presets (In the \\Shared DXI\rgcaudio Pentagon I\Presets\ folder) with these, and it should prevent crashes and other strange effects from the troublesome patches.

In case you're interested, the patches that use Valleys are:

Bank A

  •         Dirty Lick
  •         Suspicious 5ths
  •         Heavy
  •         Evolving II
  •         Lead Err
  •         Gated 81z
  •         Nothing
  •         Dozen
  •         All Bass
  •         Trout Slap

Bank B

  •         !Purity
  •         5thy Lick

Bank C

  • (none)

Bank D

  •         Bigger Smasha
  •         Clear Statement
  •         Little Raver
  •         Wall Of Sound

Bank E

  •         (none)

Bank F

  •         e - bass 01 (at) BT
  •         e - bass 02 (at) BT
  •         mega slap bass (at) BT
  •         frankie relax bass BT
  •         synth slap bass BT
  •         chorus strat 01 (at) BT
  •         chorus strat 02(at) BT
  •         chorus strat 03(at) BT

Thanks.  Pentagon was crashing CbB when loading even with all the listed hacks listed above.  This saved it.  EQ curve 1 is also bad, tho.

Dxshell wreaks havoc on some plugins.  It makes Plugin Manager list Pentagon 3 times with one of them in the TTS-1 folder, but it doesn't exist. :S??  The other 2 are in the Pentagon 1 folder: P1DXi.dll displays as a DX & Pentagon1.dll displays as a VST.  Only P1DXi.dll works without crashing CbB using your modified presets.

FWIW, I use dxshell for only one DX plugin but it ends up making a listing for all of them.
