Hi,

I logged in at Bandlab,  clicked on "https://www.bandlab.com/membership" and I end up here "https://www.bandlab.com/checkout" so far so good.

All  I get  is "unable to proceed with payment, object event" = no membership, no subscription. I have tried both the annual and monthly options to no avail.

I have doublechecked that settings for payment on Bandlab.com is correct and money is in my bank account for the purchase.

How do I solve this?

Solved it myslf by using bandlab app on my phone.  But this really need to by fixed.

Cakewalk Sonar now regged, working and has crashed , tried to change driver settings while playing the project in sonar.  Not recommended I guess. ?

Glad you were able to get it activated. Support can work with you on the web issue.
Regarding the crash, normally there isn't any issue changing driver settings outside the app as long as the driver makes the proper notifications to the host.
Which device are you using? If you send me a crash dump from the crash I can take a look at what caused the crash.

What happens to one's access to Sonar when the Bandlab subscription lapses? Will you get locked-out and that's it until one renews? Or will you get permanent access to the latest version but no new updates? Or something else completely?

I haven't found any real comprehensive FAQ that explains all the technical ins and outs of the Bandlab subscription (with regards to the new Sonar DAW).

Thanks for any info!

It's no different from the old Sonar platinum membership other than the fact that there is no unlock after 12 months.

After the lease period elapses the software won't activate until you purchase a new membership.

EDIT: "won't activate" was a bad use of words. You can still open the app and load projects but you will not be able to save. i.e the software acts like its in "demo mode"

Thanks for the confirmation. (The subscription small print/technical details are not super-detailed in the mini-FAQ at cakewalk.com...)

I had a similar problem same error turned out to be my bank security preventing the payment from processing.

So just to confirm...if your subscription lapses, you can't open your existing projects. However, you can renew at any time in the future, and open those projects. Correct?

The context is if I want to collaborate with someone who doesn't use Sonar. They can subscribe for a month, open the Sonar project I send them, and then finish before the subscription ends. However, if they need to do a remix in the future, they can simply subscribe for another month and remix their Sonar project. Correct?

You can certainly open your projects. Only saving new edits is disabled and export. Same as classic SONAR.

And yes for infrequent users they can certainly subscribe when they need to. This is one of the benefits of a monthly sub - its a very cost effective way to use it if you are an infrequent user.

That sounds right.

Could also both use CbB

Ya, for that situation the other person can just use Cakewalk. This might change down the road if Sonar add new features but at this point very little is different enough to matter.

Thanks Noel, that makes sense. I didn't quite understand whether "the software won't activate" meant you could or could not open the program.

True, but I suspect that's only for the short term because the programs will diverge more and more over time.

Yeah "won't activate" was a bad use of words. I've updated the post.

They have already diverged several ways by adding new features - just two recent examples are the new instrument sidechaining and external insert features if used won't be compatible with CbB. This doesn't mean the projects wont load in Cbb (we always support both forwards and backwards compatibility) but those features won't work properly in CbB or may cause functional issues.

Yeah, the 'divergence' would of course be an issue if only one was using CbB and the other Sonar, hence why I said 'both' ;)

It's not a huge task for a couple of people to stay on the same page is it? I thought it would be quite simple, but I guess for some it may be taxing? ?
