"Autocomplete" click-dragging track for continuous kick

dreddurius

Question

Hello all. I'm currently laying down a song and this involves a four-on-the-floor kick all throughout. Instead of "drawing" the kick drum one by one (in piano roll) in the entirety of the song, I accidentally discovered that click-dragging the "handle" of the kick track to the right auto-populates it.

Unfortunately I can't recreate this for the high hats since I don't know how to re-enable this.

If it helps, the screenshot shows the kick track and the timeline shows a "tabbed" shape. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Do the hi-hats for 1 measure.  Select the clip.

Then CTRL+L.  Grab the right edge of the clip with the hihats you just entered.  Drag to right as needed.

OMG you are a god amongst men! Thank you so much @Promidi.

Groove clips. Most pre made midi loops are already a groove clip. If you drag a drum loop like I did from SI drums it is automatically a groove clip. If you create a midi clip in the step sequencer it is a groove clip.

But if you draw notes in PVR or record a midi track it is just a midi clip

You can convert any midi clip into a groove clip by right clicking on the clip to open this dialogue or as said CTRL+L
