There used to be an HTML code you could add to web pages to tell the various search engines not to spider them. I wonder if this is still true. Glenn Stanton Posted April 8 Share Posted April 8 there is the robot.txt but it's more a suggestion than a viable command, and of course the search engine will (or not) cache something for some period of time and then not long beforethat happens, the internet archiver will find it... ? the best bet is to actively maintain content (internal to your site, there should NEVER be a broken link - they make tools for this) and ensure you have any external links from old content mapped to more relevant content (most friendly) or simply provide "not found" (least friendly).
