ralfrobert Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Are these any good? I would like to toy around with bagpipes on the weekend for the price of a pizza. Worth it? Any Scotsmen or international bagpipe experts around?

Fleer Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Then again, “Played by the talented musician who also performed the bagpipes for the film music of Dune” https://www.bigfishaudio.com/Bagpipe 2 1
Philip G Hunt Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Poll time - Instrument or form of torture? 3
Paul P Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Probably from having been brought to many Saint Patrick's Day parades as a kid, I've always been enraptured by pipe and drum bands, the bigger and louder the better. Big similarity with the great US marching bands, which I also love. All the magic is in the drones. 1

Doug Steinschneider Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 I sometimes do IT work in the evening for a local church where the pipers practice ensemble. I love bagpipes but have to leave - it's deafening. 1 1
Scott Kral Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 Loops. No playable instrument. Just loops. I’m waiting for Musio’s bagpipes… 1
Matt Rayner Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 Hmm. I'll mull it over. Which reminds me. For you non-Brits, I'd like to present Mark and Lard. They were 2 legendary daytime radio presenters on BBC Radio 1 in the 90's. They did this regular spot where Lardy would bring his rare records in and play them on the show. This is from their last ever broadcast and is, well, quite a rare recording. Lard's copy of Mull of Kintyre 1 1

(They're also in the Kontakt version of the instrument too.)
