DiscoDave
While recoding in Cakewalk, the levels are fine and I am able to record, but only vocals! I am trying to record an acoustic guitar, and that doesnt come thru at all. Very Strange, any suggestions? ElcetroVocal Mic -> Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 -> Windows 11 -> Cakewalk I have also used a straight USB Mic -> Windows with same issue. Thanks! Dave.. Glenn Stanton
and you checked the audio level of the guitar before pressing record? https://legacy.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Recording.19.html very likely the guitar which is further away from the mic, needs additional level on the input. DiscoDave
Yea, thanks for the response. Not seeing any level coming in at all, the guitar is right next to mic. And again, any singing comes in no problem.
mettelus
New projects in Cakewalk default to "Custom" on the dropdown in the upper right corner of the left pane of the Track View. Set that dropdown to "All" (exposes all track parameters) and be sure the Input (I with a box around it) on the guitar track you are trying to record is set to that same input that you used on your vocal track. It is probably set to "none" on you. Once that is set, arm the guitar track and adjust the input gain on your Scarlett to get the meter to about -12dB before recording. Only arm the track you want to actively record, and you can use the same mic input for all tracks.
jesse g
Take a look at this Dave, It's a basic mistake new users make with the Left and Right mono souce selection.
Oliver Baldwin-Marshall
Hi there, did anyone figure out this issue? I have tried everything already mentioned and haven't been able to fix it. The same as the original comment, I am getting vocal audio from the mic just fine but Cakewalk doesn't register any audio from my guitar being played through the mic. I know the mic and interface are functional because the interface shows that the guitar audio is getting through when it lights up. I have no idea how to fix this. Help? What happens if you record the guitar on the same track that the vocals record on? if it works, then it means you have some setting different in the guitar track than you do in the vocal track.
