garybrun Posted January 14, 2024 Author Posted January 14, 2024 (edited) Vocal timings I believe now are fixed? Edited January 14, 2024 by garybrun 1
garybrun Posted January 14, 2024 Author Posted January 14, 2024 Changes made.. Now trying to get a mix balance
DeeringAmps Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 Hey Gary, Just a couple of "niggles" here in my opinion. There are times when Thomas' vocals get very "intimate" and need a little more automation to bring up the level. In the into for example "I don't know my destination or why I'm walkin' here" Just about lose that "here" in the mix. Another place I have noticed it is in the chorus "there again". This last run through I think those are all pretty good. Great tune, great work on your part! t 1

Its mixed LOUD!! As that's how I imagine it to be played. The first one is not so HOT! Thanks In advance Gary Good tune, takes & mix. Don't worry about loudness so much, mix it to sound good.. it would depend more on if this is a single version or part of an album release.. - great job.. Edited January 17, 2024 by hsmusic
Treblecock Studio Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Great tune. Not a country fan but the drums get the toes tapping. Can you break down your approach to the drums for me? Hardware, software etc

Can you break down your approach to the drums for me? Hardware, software etc The drums are recorded drums with kick and snare samples (Steven Slate) blended. Drum Tracks with UAD Fairchild Compressor sent too busses I have three buses.. Drums Dry /Slate Digital Fresh Air- then sent to a drumverb bus UAD Lexicon Blend in these two busses to taste. Drum Room / UAD Sound City (Brilliant for creating rooms and mics) Does not need UAD hardware, Drum Crush / Fresh Air These then go to the Master Bus which has the God Particle on. (well recommended plugin) Then through SPL Iron for final print. Edited January 19, 2024 by garybrun 1
Treblecock Studio Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 Thanks for sharing. I''m off to see what this God particle is all about 1

garybrun Posted January 19, 2024 Author Posted January 19, 2024 (edited) Getting there I think. Would you believe it found a bass note that came into early... wonder if you lot can hear it. Need to go back and fix!! Do vocal levels need to come up or are they OK Before the vocals where very tinny... that was because I've been mixing too long. Took a bit of a break today.. so hopefully I'm not as deaf!! Edited January 19, 2024 by garybrun
garybrun Posted January 24, 2024 Author Posted January 24, 2024 Well after much thought, listening and revisions I decided to strip the song down. I thought it was too over crowded and needed more clarity. Could I have your opinions on this version. Thanks In Advance, Gary
DeeringAmps Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 You got me here. The acoustic guitar intro drew me right in. (the bare vocal on the intro never quite defined the start of the track properly for me) And of course, the Hendrix style unison bends on the last chorus, "sealed the deal"! (although they are a bit loud). (its too hot, its too cold; "I can't never be satisfied")? I'm lovin' it Gary! t 1
