Presonus faderport

I have just bought a Faderport ( single fader version ) and it doesn`t seem to want to work with Cakewalk. I have gone through the same routine I used to install my Arturia Keylab midi keyboard, which has some transport controls on it,  but to no avail.

I was under the impression that the faderport was compatible with Sonar/Cakewalk but on checking the manual I can`t find a suitable "mode" to set it to.

Has anyone got any pointers?

It should definitely be fine when you set it up for Mackie Control.

mk1 or mk 2 version ?

It`s a mk 2.

I went through the usual procedure and eventually got it sort of working but only in a very limited fashion.

It became a very expensive start/stop/jog button.

I have arranged to return it as I have only had it a couple of days. Apparently the more expensive 8/16 fader versions work better, but I`m not sure I want to risk it.

It would be nice to find a controller that works really well but it seems that the Behringer, and the Icon offerings also have their limitations and quirks.

Thanks for all the suggestions

Keith

I've got the FaderPort 16, and @Jonathan Sasor has the FaderPort 8 - both work perfectly with CbB.

The only exception is lack of access to the Synth Rack - unfortunately this feature was added after the FaderPorts were released, and because the FaderPort fakes multiple MCU button presses, it's not easy to work around (I did try, but it got messy).  IMO this isn't a big deal, as most synths have too many parameters to make editing parameters feasible with a Mackie Device in any case.

For the single fader version, you could try setting it to Universal Mode or Cubase Mode within the Mackie Control Surface dialog.

I have a Presonus Faderport 16, that has been working well for many years until a couple of months ago.

The Faderport unit responds to track automation fine, but the unit's slide faders do not control the tracks.

I tested the Faderport with Studio-One and no issues, so this is not a hardware issue.

Is there anyone having this issue, lately?

A corrupt Mackie driver?

I have the IOStation24C working as my input interface and a Faderport 8 for mixing. Both run fine together, side by side if I get my settings right. So much can go wrong in the preferences. I got the IO station first as I wanted to move on from the Boss BR800 I was using. Then got a pretty good deal on a FP8 on ebay so am now running both. Keeps me happy x

I just put the FaderPort 16 through it's paces with 3 other DAW's which worked as expected.

I can't get CbP 2024.07 (Build 108, 64 bit) to respond at all with either Mackie Control or AZSlow.

The FaderPort 16 is on firmware 3.74 and I chose MCU Sonar.

I downloaded the AZSlow user guide and followed the manual "Quick Start" setup steps. The Last MIDI event correctly recognizes the knob or slider.  I think I've correctly followed the steps but the first track slider I setup doesn't move after I save the

Does anyone have an AZSlow SPP file they can share that I can use to test?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I've got a FaderPort 16, and it works seamlessly in both CbB and Sonar using MackieControl.

Can you post a screenshot of:

1. Your Control Surfaces tab within Preferences
2. Your Mackie Control panel.

Hi Mark,

After I posted I found the thread you and Bapu and others participated back in 2021.  I followed your instructions using Mackie and Mackie XT and have all 16 channels working for volume slider, mute, solo, pan and arm.

I didn't realize AZ Controller was for the 1 track FaderPort only.

Thanks for your help (via your posts back in this thread:

FYI, the following is how I use my Faderport.   Works much better than the stock Mackie Emulation mode

AZSlow works great for the single channel FaderPort but not for FaderPort 8 or 16.

Just posting here because I interpreted the post not noticing FaderPort vs the multi slider versions and was disappointed to find it didn't support multiple channels.
